My wife's new car

My wife had an Elantra GT for 4 years. She liked it but I must say personally that it was a boring car, but we never had problems with it. We looked at several cars like the Mazda 3 & the new Honda Civic. She decided not to go this route due to the fact that she did not want to be another one on the road with a Mazda 3 or Civic (There are so many Mazda 3 & Civic on the road). We also did not want to go with an American car (no offence to the Americans . We looked at the new Volkswagen Rabbit 3 doors 2007 that came in Canada very recently and read very good reviews about the overall aspect, quality of material and the equipments that is coming with this car. We never bought a Volks due to the bad reputation & issues that they had in the past but I must say that this car will do extremely well for them and will probably increase the overall rating that they have. They also introduced the EOS that is very nice but you have to wait around 6-8 months in order to get one. Even the rabbit is extremely hard to get at this time of the year. She finally signed the contract on Thursday and we got the car yesterday!! They had only 1 red rabbit in stock. All other dealers in our area did not have even one in stock. My wife is extremely happy and I must say that I am also impressed about the level of details that have been put into this car. In reference to the reliability, this car has been introduced in Europe for couple of years (not under the Rabbit name) and the reliability is very good (the car received very good reviews in Europe).

Guess what, the first thing that we did when we came out of the dealer was to drive the car in the garage due to the fact that we have a huge snow storm in Mtl today. I am putting some Zaino coats on it this week end. I wish that we were in California instead of Canada. It's a shame to shine the car like this when the weather is bad outside. I will take some shots for you when it’s done.

Here is the link in order to see what is included with this car:

http://www.vw.ca/vwca/models/build/0,2264,54,00.html

Also, she can't drive a manual so she bought the automatic. What is great is that the it comes with a 6-Speed Automatic w/Tiptronic ! A fun feature !

Congrats. I almost pulled the trigger on one as my daily commuter, but they were selling for MSRP at the time, and the insane deal on the Speed 6 was something I couldn't pass up. I test drove botht he Rabbit and the GTI. The GTI was the DSG. I still wish the cars had more HP and AWD, because that's essentially why I didn't get one. My dad bought a 4 door. I have to say, they are great cars for the money. The quality is fabulous, and it's just a great machine. Reliability jury is still out, but my dad's is an 06 he got in June of 06, and it's been good so far. You made thr right choice. Enjoy.

The Rabbit's a cute car. I enjoy VW's commercials! Are they FWD or RWD? Congrats!

The new (to the US) VW Rabbit seems to be a solid and fun little car. The 5-cylinder is not the smoothest nor the quietest engine on the planet. The interior is very nice. Hopefully the reliability improves.

Other than the noisy engine, I think it would be a lot more fun than an Elantra GT.

I drove it yesterday for the first time, my wife did not want me to drive it before . I must say that it is a fun car to drive. As far as the noise, I find that there is nothing wrong. Maybe the other models (Jetta, golf...) are noisy but not in the Rabbit. Have you tried the rabbit? The sound is not loud at all.

I haven't driven the new model. My friend has 20th GTI from 2003. I think it may show up when you really floor it and rev it. I also think it is loud in comparison to competitor's engines.

If 5 cylinders are all that great more manufacturers would be using them.

What a horrible argument.

Car looks decent, put some nice wheels on it and it'll look perfect.
