Anyone else checking out the auto show? There's a section on it under Rants at autoextremist.com, and it is covered on the front page at Edmunds.com.

Some neat stuff:
Aston Martin DB9, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Chrysler ME 412 - the first Chrysler supercar, with a horsepower to weight ratio better than that of the McClaren F1 and some nice styling too.

Pontiac Solstice - the verdict won't be in until we get to drive it, but in looks and specs it seems to be a decent Miata competitor (slightly stronger engine than the non-Mazdaspeed Miata, but it's also heavier).

2005 Ford Mustang, with the $25,000 GT version with 300 horsepower. I think (?) that's the cheapest stock car you can buy with that kind of power. I think Ford hit a home run with that. On the other hand, the $17,000 base model has a 4.0 liter SOHC V6 that only makes 200 horsepower. I know they cut costs to keep it cheap, but I would have thought at least 220 horses.

Saturn Curve concept - somewhat ugly, but with some nice ideas. The first Saturn that made me say anything other than 'blah'.

Toyota FTC truck concept vehicle, larger than the F150 SuperCrew. I have to agree with the guy at autoextremist.com - Toyota is talking out of both sides of their mouth by offering the environmentally friendly Prius, which sells less than 50,000 a year, while planning this gas guzzling beast replacement for the Tundra, which probably sells a lot more.

Pontiac G6 - not exciting, but at least it will have a manual and it looks better than the Grand Am.

Chrysler 300C and Dodge Magnum - American auto manufacturers return the RWD sedans. Yay!

Ford 500 sedan. Better than the Taurus and available with AWD and a 6 speed auto or CVT, but only the 200 horsepower Duratec engine. What the hell were they thinking? They should have put together a bigger engine for the top end models. 200 horsepower in a sedan is piddly for the last few years.

Anybody else have comments, input, or cars they liked?
