Need Help

Hello all, I am new to this website and a new rx8 owner. I just got a 2004 in August and when I came home for Thanksgiving my car would not start. I believe it has something to do with the immobilization system because they just put up a new cell phone tower near my house and in the manual it said this could screw it up. Is there any way to shut off this system to get the car to start because I tried removing the key and doin all the steps in the manual but none seemed to work. Id appreciate any help..

Thanks,

Jason

its possible you flooded the engine. and yes, EVERYONE will now tell you to search.

dechoking it is easy (or at least it has been for me) but some people have actually had to send it off to the dealer.

i have the steps typed out, ill go grab em and post it in a sec...

Flooded engine

~ How to prevent a flooded engine
. Temperature should reach operating temp before turning off, if not:
. 1 Warm at idle for 5 minutes
. 2 Raise rpm to 3K for 10 seconds
. 3 Return to idle and turn off

~ Dechoking procedure if the above isn’t done
. 1 Hold accelerator and clutch to the floor
. 2 Crank engine (turn key) for 7 seconds
. 3 Release key, then accelerator pedal
. 4 Start engine
. 5 OK if smoke from exhaust
. 6 Don’t crank key for more than 10 seconds
. 7 Don’t race engine
. 8 Pedal to the floor prevents gas to the engine
