I'd love to talk to the dude that was driving like an idiot last night, probably has fast and the furious memorized word for word...haha
The SRT-4 prettymuch dominated it's class in SCCA Prorally this past year if I recall correctly. The neon also has its own racing series, has always been a pretty good inexpensive clubracer, and finished in the top 10 overall at one lap in basicly stock form a couple years ago. C&D in the summary of the car said "power out the wazoo, bites into corner like a pit bull, brakes never give up." and their verdict was "Dodge delivers a club racer in a box". It's not as one dimensional as most people would like to think.

I can't criticize the car or it's owners. It is a go fast and blow people away car. That is why you buy it. No one buys an srt-4 for any other reason but to FLY. The bragging and taunting is an insecurity thing, and I feel sorry for those people. Even though I'd never own one, I do have respect for it's power, and even in my STI, I'd be very weery of one from a roll. In fact., I suspect the Srt-4 would take out my STI on highway. I can't criticize people for wanting to go fast, and if they feel the need to brag and taunt, then why the hell not. They are simply telling the truth, so I can't get mad at that, even if it is arrogant and cocky.

IMHO the SRT-4 is a non expensive car that kids who dont have rich parents can easily help them get, and a fast food job can maintain. With a vast number of young kids enthused by the "Ricer" image with high wings and fart can exhausts, why not get a SRT-4 right off the lot which stock is already faster then 90 pecent of all the homemade rice rockets out there. I am postive that at least half of the neon owners would buy an RX8 if they could afford it, especially if they where lucky enough to test drive one. The other half would just be content with burning rubber and being complete as$es on the streets. As with SRT-4 owners, to generalize, the majority of them are young, and with street racing as popular as it is, Dodge offers most bang for the buck without needing aftermarket bolt on's. Mazda on the other hand, for a bit more money, offers us a "unique driving experiance."

Mentalhealth is overrated
I drove a 95 Neon Sport before buying my RX8. I needed a cheap car at the time and this car was cheap. I was lucky. I've heard horror stories about this car. I thrashed this car everyday for nine years and I couldn't kill it. I drove around faster in that car than I usually do in my 8...I just couldn't kill it.

I was riding qwith my friend in his eclipse and its pretty slow and we got next to a srt-4 at a stop light it was silver with greddy and nos and stuff stickers all over it interior glow effects adn some faget with ghetto long dreads sitting their reving his **** really high seriously like reving it as hard as he can i rolled down the window i was like dude your car is gay you wannabe and we drove off, funny thing is we were in the turn lane anways what did he want to race for 2 ft and then we turn??? i dont like the car and i dont like anyone who drives one. Another example when i went a while back to test drive one when i got back i was talking to the sales rep saying i wasnt pleased witht he car it felt a little cheap and stuff i knew the sales rep persoanlly so he wanted my honest opinion then some nerdy looking guy popps his head in and said i couldnt help but overhear your slandering of one of the most beautiful creations ever built. I simply said no offense i just didnt like the car, he gets all defensive saying he just bought one and hell own any 50 thousand dollar car i throw at him. I made a remark on his knowledge of cars saying and started throwing out names of cars that would beat it evo8 sti cobra svt etc and he said alot of other stuff but it wasnt really important just trying to defend his dillusion he had purchased the fastest car known to man and he only paid like 22k for it. Well their ya go i hate the car and i guess it only appeals to idiots.

We certainly all agree that the SRT-4 is fast. Anyone can slap on a turbo and make their car fast. Anyone remember the Omni GLH? People do it all the time. What the Neon lacks is pedigree and class. The RX-8 is steeped in rotary tradition and drips with class. Everytime I go somewhere in my 8, people are rubbernecking to get a better look or I've even seen people drive all the way across a parking lot just to get a closer look. I know non-car people mistake our 8's for a Ferrari or Porsche. One of my co-workers (non car-guy) thought my car was a Porsche. SRT-4 owners have to rev and drive at the limit to get their rental car noticed. When was the last time a neon was mistaken for a Porsche? Owners of mid 90's Ferraris would have a hard time beating a SRT-4 at a stoplight but which car would you rather own?
Straight line performance is not everything and true car people know this.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
I hate retarded drivers at stoplights, no matter what car they drive. I have only met 2 people who own SRT4's and both talked about how much faster it was than my car. I just shrugged and told them in an unimpressed tone of voice "Well for $30k, i could've bought one and put 10k in mods into it, but what's the point." :D .
I like the SRT4 for what it is, but why talk up how fast it is compared to someone else's car that cost 50% more. It's not like I couldn't have afforded one.
And as for it's got alot of power, that's why it spins the tires... I've had fwd and rwd cars with more/much more power than the neon. The only time the wheels spun is if I intended for them to or occasionally when it was wet out.
