When I first saw the Carerra GT in pictures, I thought it was OK but I wasn't that thrilled about it. When I saw one in person my opinion of it completely changed. That is one beautiful car. I do like the F430 but something about looks like a caricature drawing of an F360 to me. I think I'd rather have an F360 but with the 430 engine in it. Of course I wouldn't argue about it if I could own an F430.

The Enzo is clearly the better looking and better performing car. At that price range, you'd be an idiot to go for second best. People who can afford either car aren't going to be thinking about saving money; if they want the best, they go for the Enzo. Other than that, some rich people buy one of each, but that's beside the point. The Carrera GT is clearly second best to the Enzo. Not one single magazine prefers the Porsche. Mags will refrain from choosing one over the other but you can tell from their writing that they are in awe of the Enzo more so than the Carrera GT.

^^ "ditto" . Those are my feelings exactly.
Looks... Carrera GT. Seen plenty of F360 and F430 in Tokyo (even at my office)... styling is like RG said... just another "low end" Ferrari. The Carrera GT is dead sexy and very different from all past Porsche.

However, if I wanted a car for any other reason, the Porsche would be my pick simply because it has a manual transmission. If I'm buying a sports car to drive around and track for fun, I want the one that will give me the most enjoyable experience, which is something that an automatic transmission, no matter how sophisticated, just can't provide. I find it ironic that the car named after Enzo Ferrari is offered solely in automatic despite his dislike of automatics in sports cars.

Heres a video of the car. It's in German, and kinda repetitive, but offers some good shots of it.

anyway, i love the enzo for its incredible performance, but the porsche is just awe-inspiring (moreso than the enzo, i think). one cannot argue (well, you could...) the superiority of the enzo's performance & its desirability (based on the 39x produced, higher exlusivity, etc.), but the carrera would be my choice, if i had the money. like the poor college kid said, its a manual (& a dead sexy one at that). oh yeah, & ill use all the extra money i save to put towards development of parts for my 8! you will bow down...don't deny it!!!

I really love the new GT3, just wish it had some more ponies. It used to be the GT3 was a match for the Z06 in every measurable category & then some. Now the new Z06 will hand it it's head on a platter in a straightline. I hate this 20 (in this case 40) hp every few years. Or they can do like the upcoming turbo and start using some aluminum parts & drop 90 lbs. off the car.

Now what we are REALLY waiting for is the 510Hp 997 911 Turbo S. Porsche is dropping the 911 GT2 model for the 997 model year, and the new top 911 is going to be the Turbo S.

I can see where your coming from, but in all reality, theres no arguing its dominance. Just sucks that most of them will go to 60y/o that use it to drive around their retirement comunity...

He means that most of them are bought by people that "hang out at starbucks". Its a stereotype, you get it or you dont.. haha. Cant really explain it. Just most of them will go to waste to people who will only drive it around town and never take it over 75Mph.

I wouldn't buy a 911 unless it was a turbo. Of course I can't afford one anyways so the point is moot. If you want the performance of a nonturbo 911 just go buy the Cayman and save a bunch of money.
I do agree that many people buy expensive cars just because they can rather than so they can enjoy them for what they are but this is true with any high dollar car. You'll get a few enthusiasts and the rest will buy them for some hip hop rapper money spending image or because it's the in thing to do if you are rich. I wish I could do that.

rx8ultra,
I assume your car is a Turbo S. I thought they did not make just "regular" TT's in 05' & 06'.
I would love to get into an upcoming Turbo S if it was everyday driver car, a GT3 if I had more than 1 car.

Indeed. It's a great car, don't get me wrong. To me, it just doesn't have that Porsche soul. It's almost too good of a car. The AWD, the driving aids, the coushy interior and electronic gadgests just take away from the spirit of Porsche, IMO. It doesn't appeal to me like the older 911's and cars like the GT3 do. It seems like it appeals to many people who grab a morning moca frappa latte cappa yada yada coffee. Obviously, not everyone who owns one is like this, many are enthusiasts.
