New BMW M roadster - experiences/opinions please...
Anybody test drove the new Z4 M roadster? How good is this car? There are quite a few of those sitting on the dealer lots around where I live. Looks like there isn't much demand. Dealers are marking them down. I am quite surprised to see this happening to a brand new M car...

If I had the money, I'd own 2! I want the Z4 M Coupe soooo bad; looks amazing, sounds great, less BMW luxury, more of a drivers car. Y not meeee?!?! O ya I'm 19 and can barely afford my 8 ^^; I'd very much like to see what test drivers think...
Edit: Forgot the "coupe" specification...

for the money personally i rather wait for the 400+hp E92 M3, or fork the dough for the SLK AMG 55, that car is superemly balanced and the benchmark performer of the high performance roadster class.. at least according to BMI

I'd go with the Cayman or Boxster for a DD or the 06 3.0si instead of the M coupe or roadster. From what I've read the M coupe is rather punishing.
I've had thoughts of maybe picking up a used 2 seat roadster or coupe once I've paid of the 8 unless I sell it for something else and the Z4 is on the list.

I'm in the middle of this very perdicament ... though here in Canada you can only get a regular 2.7L Cayman for the price of the Z4 M Coupe. I've taken both out and the M Coupe is quite an animal ... it has more HP than the Cayman but feels heavier and less delicate in the steering and controls. The Cayman is much more driveable on a daily basis as the Z4 clutch is quite heavy. If I could get a Cayman S for the same money as the Z4 M Coupe then that would be my choice ... but since I can't it may be a the Z when my lease is up.

The M cars are pretty cool, but ownership is expensive. In the end, you'll need to drive one (in traffic) and see if it works for you. Check out some bimmer forums and see what they complain about. Ask your insurance company how badly it plans to rape you.
Good luck.
Good luck.

What kind of discount are we talking about here? The M is over $50k. Even with a pretty big markoff it would still be probably be in the mid $40k range. Whereas you should be able to find an S2k for under $30k nowadays. Still not even in the same ballpark.
