On a side note. I saw a guy in an E36 M3 with the same wheels as the M5. I assume they're copies, but they looked damn good on the car.

I'm not really sure the M5 and the Cayman appeal to the same buyer needs.

Infact, the only car that would will be the M version of the Z4 coupe. Which, if history is our guide, will be less than the $60,000 cayman.

maybe not, but why buy an m5 for $100,000 when you can get a cayman and an ms6 or other? the mz4 can't hold a candle to the cayman and is suppose to be the answer to the boxster. The m5 is nice but I really doubt ppl care to much about mixing high level performance with luxuries. What's the point of buying a fast car that weighs 4000+ lbs?

Anyways, I'm just loving the cayman and if mazda doesn't come out with an rx7 successor, I'll be heading over to porsche for my next car.

The MZ4 is the answer to the boxster. THe MZ4 coupe is the answer to the Cayman. WIll they be as good as their Porsche counterparts? probably not. But, they'll certainly hold a candle to them and be cheaper to boot.

Why buy a steak at Harbour 60 Steakhouse, when you can get a steak and a lap dance at Filmores for a fraction of the price? Because some people can have the more delicious steak at H60, and get a lap dance afterwareds as well. It's all a matter of what one is capable of spending.

I for one would love an M5 to compliment a true sports car. Daily drivers don't get much cooler.

The cayman club sport is a pure sports car. It's chassis is stronger than the 911. I actually feel that it will give the 911 competition. The 911 is not that much better performance wise and some argue that the difference is not worth the extra money for the 911.

The M5 is nice but most rich ppl have a sports car and a true luxury car(automatic). The m5 is not gonna sell well because it just doesn't justify price tag.

I really don't see what's so special about the Cayman. It's a hardtop Boxster S, I'll take a Boxster S and have a great steak dinner every week for a year with the money I save over the Cayman.

Yeah, that's why there are waiting lists in most parts of the world. Topgear claims there is already a 2 year wait list.

Sure, I guess if that's true it is mostly due to the limited production. But I really doubt it's a 2 year wait list.....come on

The cayman has double the storage space, more power and the clubsport will be lighter and have even more power. The cayman also has a stronger chassis then the current 911.

It's the perfect track/street car imo.

The Clubsport will not be a car you want as a daily driver, so take that out of the equation. Now give me some reasons to buy a Cayman over a Boxster S besides a little more storage space. A Boxster S is as fast, will turn a nearly identical track time, and best of all you can put the top down and save 6k+.

P.S. Stop talking out of your ***.

That's just the UK. They seem to be rather deprived there compared to the US. Poor souls have waiting lists for just about every hot car to come to market. I seem to recall they even had one for the RX-8. BMW knows that the US is their largest market for M cars. There maybe some waiting lists, but more likely months, not years.

Top down doesn't appeal to me at all. I'd rather have a Cayman.

Z4? Looks hot in person. I wasn't big on the pics posed here, but once I saw it at the motorshow... that changed my opinion. BUT... it didn't look as good as the Cayman.

The M5 price is crazy. I'd never drop the money for one. I'd rather pickup a Audi RS4 AND a new MX-5 or Solstice for that much money.

The Caddie CTS-V will be out again. They had one at the Tokyo Motorshow and it looked HOT! I'd DEFINITELY get one over the new M5 and take the change and buy a weekend toy... like a Ducati 999s.

i dream of having a 993 turbo, but with those still fetching 6 figures, i would definately take a cayman. i agree with darkmaz that the cayman s would be a great ride, but it will never live up to it's full potential because porsche will never give it the 4/4s/turbo trims as seen on the carrera because it would outperform the 911. yeah, boxsters are nice and a convertible has it's pluses, but as a more rounded performance machine, the cayman is and will be better than the boxster.

FYI, It has the same front storage but more than double in the rear!!!! I'm just stating facts. You claim that the clubsport won't be capable to daily drive. Unfortunately, I disagree. Porsche makes the best street supercars....period.

The Cayman is hardly a "supercar". If you want storage and practical things like being a great street car with amazing performance, you can have it now, and you can get it for half as much. It's called an Evo or an STI. I'm sorry but there isn't much impressive about the Boxster for the price, which makes the Cayman even less impressive for the price. If I want practical I'm not buying one (because they're NOT), if I want impractical I'm buying an Elise or an S2K. The only Porsches that make sense to me are the ones that I will never be able to afford.

Anyhow, lets talk about the M5, it was moronic to bring the Cayman up as a comparison in the first place.

Never said that it was. I said that " porsche makes the best street super cars." Even the 911 turbo is a very comfortable daily driver. A Porsche is not made out of a tin can like those other cars you mention. They are solid. All of the numbers are estimates for the cayman. Don't be too suprised if they're underestimated.

Again the m5 is over priced at $100,000 imo.

Nope, C&D came up with 13.4 @ 105. Also, the 911 Turbo is a really nice car, but is not a supercar IMO.

Since you insist on continuing to talk about these cars. Care to tell us what the hell they have to do with an M5?
