New Camaro SS runs 13 FLAT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3VHl...eature=channel
Posts a 4.7 second 0-60 time and a 13 second flat quarter mile pass. Brakes from 60 in 105 feet with a .90 skid pad. So essentially this is a 12 second car with upgraded tires that is also track worthy for ~$30K. Thoughts?

Ditto. Its such amazing performance for the cash. This could very well be GM's saviour. And the LS3 is just built to be built. Throttle bodies, y-pipes, headers, 500 bhp is only a few bolt ons away. Plus Brembo's are standard and fully IRS with launch control...GOD this car is hot!..

Actually I just thought of something. Wouldn't it be ironic if the Camaro SS's launch control grenaded its IRS after a few launches and GM went through the whole ordeal Nissan did with the GT-R's launch control?
Very possible, since stock-ish Terminator Cobra's were crushing their IRS at the drag strips. There's a reason Ford switched to the live axle. Hopefully GM built it strong..

It's fast and boasts high horsepower numbers.. What's it weigh? And i'm afraid it's still the worst looking car from the retro style american cars.. Even the mustang looks better.. that's sad.

I'm not sure what Ford intends to do with the Mustang. There's tons of rumors about the Boss name being revived but the Mustang just got a facelift and added performance so...was that only for a year? The GT starts at $28K, only $3K difference between that and the obviously superior SS. Thus A mid-level Mustang between the GT and GT500 would probably end up costing more than the SS.
I will admit the new Mustang looks a little better (still think the Camaro looks good) and that it should still have no problems in sales. The Camaro outperforming the Mustang is nothing new. My money would go to the SS though.

The SS version weighs somewhere in the ball park of 3,850 lbs (a touch more or less). Couple hundred pounds less than the Challenger SRT8 and a couple hundred pounds more than the Mustang GT. The Camaro SS is in the middle of the Mustang and Challenger as far as weight and price go. But its performance is either dead even or better than the SRT8's.

to me the camaro looks best of the 3 and its also the best in the handling department. IF I were going to buy one it would be the camaro. That said I also like the mustang and I HATE the challenger.

I like all three. I see a ton of Challengers at my work and the styling is great. But the big-ness of the car is what kills it. It just looks fat. Like a bear in the winter. You know its strong as hell but it just looks loafy and sluggish. I've also heard an SRT8 at WFO. Doesn't sound that great. As far as muscle goes it sounds like it has no tone whatsoever. Just sounds beefy. And it starts at ~$40K! Its a great car to be sure, but its cool factor just isn't up to that kind of serious price tag. I'll save judgement until I see a Mustang GT or Camaro SS. The SS is physically smaller than the Challenger, but my bet would probably go to the Mustang being the better looking of the two (smaller and more toned).

highly doubt that...doesn't take many bolt ons to make a mustang wicked fast either...and not to mention they are better looking imo than the camaro. they will probably end up phasing these out just like they did before because nobody wanted them. lol.

I love the Camaro in general, but I won't be picking this one up. I really don't like how it looks -at all-, and I'm pretty much done with the muscle car thing for now. If I get another one it would be a Corvette, either a C6 or another '73 Stingray.

I'm personally not a fan of the mustang at all. The challenger is if my favorite looks wise (well, if it wasnt for the massive size). I'm not a huge american/muscle fan, and I didnt like the camaro at first, but I'm really liking them now. I'll definitely test drive one when they've been out for a while and see if I like it or not.

What gets a Mustang to reach 420 bhp gets a Camaro to 500+ bhp. And the IRS in the Camaro SS gets it through the slalom faster than the lighter Mustang GT. Intake, exhaust, and stickier tires should get the SS up there with a stock GT500 in the quarter mile. Still for about $10K less.

Honestly I think the Camaro looks much better than the 'stang. I'm so sick of seeing them around and trying to be all badass. Atleast the new Camaro isn't a motorboat anymore, it can actually turn (well somewhat)
