Looks to be that way. In my book:
Looks- Camaro = Mustang > Challenger
Performance- Camaro > Challenger > Mustang
Bang for buck- Camaro >>> Mustang > Challenger
The numbers pretty show the Camaro being on top. Now all I need to do is see one, get inside one, and hopefully (but doubtfully) be able to test drive one. I like the style of the interior a little better than the Mustang and WAY better than the Challenger's interior (no style, just a Dodge interior). So long as the quality is pretty good, its the clear winner for me

It's a Cavalier
If the salesman tells me I can't drive it, I'm going to absolutely ballistic on him.
I've had it with ridiculous dealerships. There were several in Austin that wouldn't allow a test drive of GTO. Clowns. I didn't buy from them.
It's a $30,000 to $35,000 CHEVY. Pick up trucks cost more than this thing. It's not some damn Ferrari or Aston Martin. Come on. Idiots. And don't get me started on mark ups. I got waaaay under sticker on my car when a dealership in Austin was charging $4,000 over. Dumb asses.

You are correct but you also need to take into account the generation that was buying the Camaro, that generation is getting old and will soon disappear. The death of the Camaro and Firebird was that it didn't appeal to women so they lost all those sales to the Mustang. Same will happen hear, the Camaro and Challenger are just to big for women (most) to want to drive them. Ford has a great recipe for a sports car to thrive, a relatively cheap entry level model that women find attractive and fun to drive. The Camaro can not match the Mustang in this aspect, but hey weirder things have happened.
yea your right the mustang does just have that certain appeal about it

The Camaro is another example of the big 3 being 20 years out of touch with the market.
Sure the fanboys will like it, but they could slap a Camero badge on a Crossfire and the hardcore Camero market will still eat it up, but that market is all of a thousand people.

2.3 inches more length, 1.6 inches wider, but the Camaro is actually 1.4 inches lshorter in height.
The wheelbase on the Camaro is 5.2 inches longer than the Mustang, which is why I think it looks larger.

And I think you're wrong. I think there's a larger market for this than the Volt.
Use every single "free" marketing advantage you can get, and the Camaro has a bunch of them. It would have been stupid for GM not to try this.

I know the Mustang will probably sell better than the Camaro. It always has and probably always will. And at leasty Chevy is opening its doors to everyone.
SS Cobalt = FWD turbocharged boy-racer from hell
Camaro = affordable muscle-bound pony car
Corvette = pure enthusiast sports car
If you don't like the Mustang then you have to cross Ford off your list altogether.

Just because a lot of Gen X-Y and Z'ers never got a chance to own a Camaro and want one, does not make it a marketable car. In fact, I think a much wiser move would be to Rename the Volt the Camaro, if they MUST hang onto the name and the look.
It's a product with too few features, using old technology, in a market that is already saturated. The Camaro once was the hight of high performance, and they've watered it down into a 35K econobox with poor gas mileage and an enormous engine, all built to the lowest standards allowable by management.
In essence, I think this new camaro compares to the original in the same way an H3 compares to a Humvee. Better bodywork, but fundamentally not the same thing.

And I feel your pain as far as dealerships go. Someone denied me a test drive for a Mazdaspeed3 once. I'm kinda young I guess but he knew I drove an RX8 and I just wanted to go "dude...its a FWD hatch, not a Corvette. I think I got it."
Apparently though you have to make X amount of money for the banks to loan you money (according to the dealerships) and if you don't have the coin then you're not applicable for a test drive. The guy also knew I was going into the military and would make way more than the bare minimum required for a loan and still shot me down. Whatever happened to just representing the brand? All the dealership care about is money now. I know its a big deal, especially these days, but nobody has any pride anymore. They'll lie and do anything to get your money, and if you don't have any money they don't want anything to do with you.

I see you have picked up on my intense interest in American muscle.

The design (front engine, RWD, push-rod V8) is old, but the technology is very up to date. As far as features go the Camaro has more features than the first gen RX8 (bluetooth, USB port, etc). And the market is set up right now to be perfect for buying a new car. Gas is cheap, people are going broke and dealerships are forced to lower their prices so if you do have the cash it'll be a steal, etc. I wouldn't say they've watered down the Camaro, more like they're made small adjustments to fit today's times.

Tell him McKlusky! Tell him what time it is!
Sorry, just got done watching Tropic Thunder
Seriously though. I'm going to do everything in my power to get into/around a new Camaro when they hit the dealerships. If I like the feel and look in real life, I'll stop all future plans I have for my RX8, sell it in a year or so (I'll be in basic training and A school for 6-8 months) and get a new RS SS. 13 flat quarter mile for around $30K? Shiiiiit

Hmmm. I wonder how radical the change would be going from an RX8 to a Camaro SS. Everything would be reversed. Low end grunt, handling dynamics, driving characteristics, etc. And lets not forgot how strange the maintenance would be...
I've checked the oil THREE times in a week and it STILL hasn't gone down! There must be something wrong

I think the saying is true what you drive says something about your personality. I for one am small, agile and quick so the 8 is a perfect fit. Now does that mean Camaro owners are fat and obnoxious and can only get the thrill of going fast by getting behind a large engine?
Of course it does. Jokes aside, I like the Camaro and would love to be thrown back in my seat now and then. One of my friends will likely buy one so hopefully I get the opportunity.

You just hate street racing, which is why you hate the whole hot rod / muscle car thing. You want to see an awesome piece of Americana fail. You want to see everybody ride around on an electric moped, eat granola, and wear hemp underwear.
