This is the way I look at it. Before the 8 I owned a 1995 Camaro Z28, loved that car to death but was forced to sell due to mechanical issues (it has 265K mi). I bought the 8 and it was a different world. Both cars were fun to drive but just in different ways, the Z28 could take off the line like a bat out of hell, it could also blow just about anything on the highway. Contrast to that the 8 was more docile and nimble, it showed it's true prow rouse on curved onramps or very windy roads. The thing is you'll never push either car to the limits on the street so each of their shortcomings will not show their face. Except for the occasional red-light or onramp adventure.

just why is it a POS? just because you dont like something it is not automatically a POS. I believe that the camaro and mustang have come very far from what they were and they can put an 8 to shame really fast. Although I truly love my 8 I also like these cars.

If there was a simple fix to the 370z oil cooler (should be), limited slip diff (I hear the stock one is aweful for track use, coming from an owner who has tracked his) and clutch issues (maybe), I might jump at getting one of those. As good as the new Camaro is for the street, it just doesn't appeal to me unless there was a track pack option and the 370z has the problem of needing too many fixes for track duty.
Looks like I'm keeping my RX-8. It's nice not having car payments at least.

I want a heads up display with GPS and night vision, radar proximity warnings, and a massive stereo, and I want it with classy retro styling with enormous fins.
The Camaro is none of that. The camaro is an old design based off hundred year old technology, that has absolutely nothing new to offer the market other then "ITS A NEW CAMARO!"
But hey, There will always be luddites who will cling to the sentimental feelings coming from using a legacy technology that was once wondrous science fiction when they were a child.
We need to stop looking into the past for car inspiration. The new Camaro is looking back 50 years to bring a new car to the market. When they designed the original, do you think they looked back to the model T for a reference? Hell no. They looked to the future. ^ actually i disagree, the reason they bought it back is because there's a market for it. And seeing how well the retro feel did for the stang it would be stupid to not attempt a retro camaro as the history is just as long. Thus it is something new to the market, a v8 rwd 2 door for 30k. At the moment there are the mustang for about 29k and the challenger which is well over 33k.

I think we are far from having electric vehicles for some time still and for now ill takem y gas guzzlers with premium and a side of oil. Thanks!

Just something about a rumbly V8 and good looks that I like. I test drive cars pretty much every year on my birthday and I plan on trying out the Camaro, Challenger and 370z this year. Looks like fun.

that is something that I CANT stand about electric cars. They make a horrible sound. One of the things I love about racing cars is the sound they make.

It offers what the Mustang lacks in performance with a price tag the Challenger can't compete with. Whether you like it or not is up to you. But it really does look like the Camaro is the future of muscle cars. It clearly outperforms the Mustang and Dodge screwed up big time by pricing the SRT8 at over $40K, since one of the KEY elements of a muscle car is that its affordable to the average-Joe. The SRT8 is pretty much in Corvette price-range, something that everyone knows the average-Joe can't afford.

I was told to check the first friday of April, whatever that day is. I'm really curious as to how this car drives.
Nice post above about bringing something new to the table though. It even has the magnetic ride suspension that is shared with the Ferrari 599 Fiorano and the Corvette ZR1. It really is anything but retro designed. Retro-inspired, but I think the shape has a nice sleek modern look to it.

What is there to push other automakers to keep up? If you have seen the automotive industry lately like in the past few years, the successful car companies are the ones that make boring appliances. They are the one that are not begging for bailout money. Camaro, G8, Challenger, etc.... they are not gonna be the bread and butter for the car maker. Look what happened to the likes of GTO, Charger, Magnum, Impala SS? They are deader than afros and bell-bottoms.
