dont knock the cobra, my 427 supercharged would regularly beat z06 super charged corvettes. Until you have been in one, don't knock it.

Out of the options in the poll, I picked the S2000. Something different, yet it still is a very nice & nimble sports car like the RX8. It has good enough power as well.

Just my take.

Good luck with your decision.

*EDIT*

I heard you say something about a supercharged S2000....Here's one that's local to you and is priced at $14,500: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

...Or maybe 70k miles on the clock is way too much...?

Not sure the actual attitude behind that post, but in his defense, it can be hard to decide when there are so many good choices. There are many things that can easily be missed in the short time span of a typical test drive. These are best found by getting opinions from a few others who have the ability to compare some of the cars and can point out some of these details.

While I get what you're saying, I have to point out that this isn't necessarily true. I definitely miss my 8 and quite a few things about it, but I definitely don't regret the move I made. I found myself wanting something different and I feel that my car now suits my needs/wants a lot better than the 8 did. I definitely hope to pick up an 8 sometime down the road as a side/project type car though.

I voted for the GTO. It's something I considered but had to pass up because I was looking to get more space than the 8 had to offer. Since that doesn't seem to be a concern for you, I think it's definitely a good choice. There have been quite a few 8 owners that converted to GTO owners and have been happy. PM YaXMaNGTO and I'm sure he'd be more than willing to give some good comparisons between the GTO and the 8.

I forgot that you mentioned supercharging the S2k. Had I remembered that, my vote would have been more difficult. I think I might actually lean towards the supercharged S2k, but it would be a tough choice still.

Since you mentioned the M3, I feel obligated to also mention the B5 Audi S4. This is the route I went. Since you're alright with a supercharged S2k, I'm assuming you're alright with modifications, which is necessary with the S4. A very clean stage 3 S4 can be had for 15k or less. It's definitely not perfect and has its flaws, but I really do love mine and have a lot of fun driving it.

Yeah, there was a lil sarcasm behind my post All I know that in the end, it will be your decision.
I like the idea of a S/C s2000. Light, nimble, quick and easier to mod. Only downside, IMO, is the lack of back seats and cloth roof.
Have you tested any of your options yet?

I think I'd lean towards the S2k if you like the feel of the 8 and want more power. The S2k has a great feel to it, but I decided against it because of space and wasn't sure if there was enough of a difference between it and the 8. I only test drove one, but it was a lot of fun and I was pretty impressed. I honestly think I could have enjoyed that as much as the 8, or more, but I was looking for something even more different (as you can tell from my final choice). With the supercharger, I think that will provide a pretty huge difference while still maintaining a lot of the characteristics that most people love about the 8.

E 46 M3 SMG all the way. You would have to buy a pretty high mileage one to get it for 15k though. So prob an s\c s2k. I'm going to hold out until I can afford a jetstream blue C6.

I suggested an M3, but you are not going to get a good one for under 15k.

My plan is to sell my Audi TT for $6500 and my rx8 for 10k and get something.

BUT after taking a long drive (100+ miles) i got to thinking about how much i like the 8 and maybe i could take the extra 5k+- and turbo the 8...

I do know that i plan on waiting a couple months but decisions decisions!

Apparently OP cant save up for a better car. He has 15k to spend now and will still have only 15k to spend in 2015.

Thread is fail. I shall leave this here:

Why not be satisfied with what you have at your age. Why buy a S2000, which btw will cost everybit of $15000 to find a good one and go FI on it. I doubt someone our age (Yes I said our, because I know you are roughly the same age) could handle the power of FI, despite the fact that I am a very confident driver. This car has more than enough power to get you into trouble. If you dont like the RX8 and want something with more HP then please save us some time and sell it. It doesnt make sense to sell an RX8 because its about to go out of the engine warranty to maybe buying another RX8 to go the FI route. YOU VOID THE WARRANTY THEN. After reading this thread its apparent you want more HP and dont understand the RX8, so please do us a favor and sell it.

you are right, the rx8 is a great car and i get many compliments on it... i enjoy it very much while i get bored with it at the same time, like i said i want more power. when i think about buying another rx8 (because this one is going out of warranty) i wonder what kind of abuse it has taken over the years and of course, i would want more power. just recently i have been thinking about putting a turbo in the 8 (and yes this would void the warranty) which is why i am now considering keeping my car which is going out of warranty and turbo'ing that. that makes a whole lot more sense than buying a new one just to void the warranty. my previous car was an audi tt quatro turbo with some modifications, i think i could handle that so maybe i could handle a turbo 8. maybe not... who knows

Sorry If I seemed a bit harsh but It annoys me when people go back and forth and dont realize the rx8's potential. Yes it is a bit underpowered but It makes up for it in the chasis and handling that other cars dont have. I went on a cruise recently with a friend and his 350Z, I ran away from him in the backroads despite his HP.

First off, how old are you/you guys? It comes down to maturity. I definitely believe that there are certain age points where you can or can't have a certain amount of maturity, but I don't think age is always a perfect indication.

Your point about the warranty is very valid. I understand if your concern is for the reliability of the 8 and beyond warranty you don't feel safe, so you want another car, but now you're thinking of turbocharging the 8? The main problem with that plan is that you'll need more than you expect and should definitely have some set aside for the chance that something goes wrong.

The comment about not understanding the 8 seems a bit... absurd I guess. Are you implying that he doesn't understand the 8 because he wants more power? Or are you assuming that it is because he doesn't understand the 8 that he is wanting something else? It really sounds like you're saying that either you love the 8, or it's such a great car that you don't understand it. From the sound of his posts, it sounds like he enjoys the 8, but it's not exactly the car he's looking for, and I definitely understand that. Just because the 8's weak(er) point is power and he feels like he wants to have more power doesn't mean he doesn't mean he doesn't understand the car. I owned my 8 for 5 years and loved it, but still ended up wanting something different and more power was one of the qualifications. I still have a lot of respect for the 8 but have no regrets of getting my new car.

Basic point... there was a lot of assumption in your post. Just because he doesn't have the same views as you, does not make his choice wrong or mean he doesn't understand.
