New Evo record
Been quite the interesting year for Evos so far, AMS breaks their own record a few times, gets 900+ whp from a customer car, then tops that with their shop car, gets very close to 8s but can't get just the right run to do it, and finally tops out their dyno and hits 1023whp in another customer car (no nitrous). Now Buschur comes out this last weekend and lays it down.

Shep still showing that he's the man when it comes to the 4G63 (1300-1400 whp no nitrous)

Is there anything left of the original engine? How much HP could you possibly get with such little room?
If you can do that to an Evo, I can't wait to see what they can do to a higher displacement engine.
Very impressive.

The BMW 4 cylinder 1.5l engines that were running in F1 back in 1981 and producing 900hp (no nitrous either) were stock engine blocks from the BMW 1.5l 02 Series with at least 60'000 miles on them. (They noticed that older used blocks were less prone to cracking). These blocks were initially produced back in 1962 (!) and the engines originally produced 80hp in stock condition.
(900 hp on 1.5l engine is equal to 1200hp on a 2.0l engine. Also Turbos back then had significantly lower efficiency numbers.)

I cant watch the videos at work... What tpye of gas are they running?
Just makes me wonder how streetable and how long the motor will last on something like this.
The owner of my company has a 12psi superchared SRT-10 and I think thats only around 800 HP. It's just 100% streetable and drove to work and back everyday.

The engines that were pumped that high never lasted long (and would only have been used for qualifying), and on race day they would've been dialed back, probably down to the 900-1000hp that globi mentioned. Unlike today, they would simply use different engines for qualifying and the race, so they didn't even have to "dial back" the engine for the race, or worry about the qualifying motor surviving 2 hours on the track after being run so hard in qualifying.

Get a clue, these cars are not dyno queens.
