The original KITT was a Trans Am. The T/A didn't get any ground effects until 1984, and the Formula wasn't available until 1987. It's even called a Trans Am in some episodes of the 1st season. They switched to "black t-top" after the 1st season.

I think they wanted to go with a car that was currently still available instead of something that was discontinued. I agree with the camaro since it is considered the sister car to the T/A and it looks more suitable for the job as KITT than the shelby gt. But i still wouldnt mind the Koenigsegg version either

Guess Ford Paid out the money to make this happen. I'm sorry a 'stang as Kitt is just wrong. The Producers should of just sucked it up and made a entirely new custom car or asked/begged Chevy to use a C6. The 'stang as Kitt just looks like a normal car on the road. As a kid I remember thinking Kitt was the "most awsomeness car eva!" cause it looked like it was from the future, this looks like you could buy it on the lot tomorrow.

i dunno why they made an "attack mode" the original never transformed like that unless it was going 300 mph in hyper mode or something....transformers anyone???
