Everytime my fiance hears that music with the new Mazda commercials, she get's angry about why Mazda chose that song to try and promote their cars. It makes her angry that it would be a good idea to promote their cars using a song about brain damaged kids that got wasted by tripping out on acid.
I think she over thinks it, but I also agree using a song about being brain damaged isn't the best way to sell your car.
"If you like brain damage, you're gonna love our cars!"
Not quite what Mazda was thinking of, I bet.
So many songs, why did they choose that one?
BC.

The car in 0:58 is the Shinari design concept car. It's 3 years old now, and that particular clip was first used in this commercial (I believe)
The Shinari, while having TONS of rotary cues all over it, actually had a Mazda3 engine and FWD drivetrain in it to move it around between shows. It's just a design langauge concept. Just showing off the new skin style, what is underneath doesn't really matter, because the language has already made it to production in the CX-5 and Mazda6.
So no, it's no indication of a future rotary.
