New Mazda TRIBUTE in OZ
With the speculation of an ALL new Tribute being called a CX-5, Mazda and Mazda Australia have just recently released a face lift of the Tribute here...
It's got new headlamps, bonnet, grille, bumper, colours and a console mounted T bar instead of the crappy column gear mount.... 2.3 litre 4 cylinder and 3.0 V6..

Silence..
So when do you guys get the New Tribute?...or don't?
IMO there will be at least another two years or more before the "CX-5" (If it exists)
makes it to the market.....I can't see the point of 3 Mazda named SUV's...in a segment that is slowing rapidly.
I don't know why MA even bothered with this thing... I would rather have the 2.3 litre turbo CX-7 in December (Australia) for a few dollars more...
The Tribute and the another US "inspired" MPV are the worst models to ever come with the Mazda name attached.

I cant believe im reading all of this. Have any of you guys ever driven a Tribute?
They are great SUV's. A lot better than the Honda and Toyota crap. I have had two Tributes since 2001 and they have never given me any grief.
My first one did 180,000kms before I traded it on the new one. At least half of the km's were towing my racecar. They might be a bit sedate in the styling but I think the update looks good.
I will have a good look at the CX-7 when its released here though. It looks like it will be a good thing. I dont know if it will have the towing capacity of the Tribute though.

Yes, but the cars were "outdated" in looks and cabin (dashboard) design on the day BEFORE they were made!.....
Sure the reliability is Mazda, BUT...and I see your a Mazda man too Glenn...AH! the 1969,1500 SS twin carb...what a car!...nice collection of 7's too!
Do you recall the only other twin carb car to come to OZ?
1981 323 FWD 2 Door with twin carbs....in bright Yellow, I think it had a sticker on the doors...was it "Sport" or "Familia"...cant remember, and a power sunroof,alloys...not many sold anyway! it was big 25 years ago!

I remember when I bought my first one there was a waiting list for months. Mazda Australia couldnt get enough of them. They were selling 800 a month.
The Tribute was the car that got Mazda going again. It was the Tribute that started the Zoom Zoom campain. Soon after that they released the Mazda 6 and they where on the way to being the biggest importer of cars in Australia.
But I dont have to tell you any of this Your a mazda man like me
Yeah the 1500SS is a fantastic car. I also bought a 1970 1800 Deluxe with a genuine 100,000kms on it a few weeks ago.
I remember the twin carb 323. Ford had a laser with twin carbs as well. In japan they had an injected model so I think we were ripped off!
