New Rx-7 Pics
Here are some pics and an article from a japanese Magazine. Looks to me to be saying that this is the new Mazda RX-7. I don't speak Japanese and can not interpret it.
If someone can, then please let us know what it's saying. I am under the impression that this is the Kabura with a facelift and a Rotary Engine.
Anyway here it is for debate and comment and Flameing.
And if it's a repost of a post that I haven't seen, then tough.

HP and TORQUE
On that last page, it says 350 ps @ 7000 rpm, That translates to 345 HP!!!
Also, 1300KG is 2860 Lbs.... this thing is gonna FLY with that much power and that little weight!
I coudln't find the conversion from metric to imperial units for the torque figure though.

Just a post of a set of pics I found. Could be true, could be a hoax.
So far Mazda has not said a word about this ,at least that I can find. And I think the Magazine is from January 2007.

It's funny that Japanese news is viewed as more accurate than anywhere else. I see people wanting J-spec parts because they must be better. People put more faith in Japanese tuners for whatever reason. I guess because they are Japanese and the cars are too so they must tune better? Then we have Japanese magazines. These magazines spew out more inaccurate crap than any other country's magazines when it comes to new car speculation. This isn't going to happen. IF there is ever another RX-7, believe me, the first you see of it will not be in a magazine like this. It will be a spyshot of a highly disguised unbadged car out testing somewhere and even then what it is will only be speculation. These magazines have never been correct about any other new car coming out and this one will be no different. That's somebody putting their fantasy on paper and publishing it. That's it.

I am not Japanese, but I do know some of the "Han" characters.
I think the following info will be the most interesting part you guys would like to know...
1. THe reborn of the Rx7 project was declined in year 02 august. Now is time to resubmit the proposal again. Recently, the Kabura concept and production development went well, the Rx7 development team has proposed the new project to reborn the Rx7. The red color in the pic is Kabura concept in NORTH AMERICAN, not the NEW Rx7. The new RX7 will be a result of the evolving Kabura.
2. Since the Kabura's famous character is for 3 adults with NA, 4 cyclinder, 2 liter (not sure the L stands for), the orginial Rx7 is for 2 adults only. Debate with Kubura's 2+2 concept and put it on the new Rx7 generation is still going on. But the Rx7 is a true sports car with only 2 seats, the team wants to keep it that way. Bah bah bah!!!
3. Somewhere the Kabura's structure is same as the RX8. (insufficent details)
4. The new RX7's project will be devleoped and designed in 09. They have 3 things to focus. Sorry I only understand 1 of the 3 points, the gas consumption. Since the new concept of RX7 are powered by electric + gas 2 in 1 combo with 350ps., there is work to be improve for the low torgue electric consumption at this point.
5. In 09-10 the Rx7 will be fully reborn and pics will be available at that time.
In conclusion (not mine), the Kabura will be eye catching and then the RX7. The last blue pic with the rear is the NEW RX7 indiciated 2 + 1 + 1 (kid). I am still confused their final decision on the 2 + 2 things.
Hope this helps, I tried to translate my best according to my knowledge.
Thanks.

the only person more stupid than the people who wrote the article is someone who would start a thread thinking it might be real. If mazda releases a new RX7, it wont be via some cheap JDM car magazine.
actually, the magazine probably did sell a lot of copies, so i guess they got what they wanted.

and also, why do we keep clinging on to the idea of another rx7?! they moved on already... thats why there is the rx8. the rx7 went through 3 wholesome generations and they moved on. i dont see any speculation on the next generation 300zx? they already moved on to the 350z. the supra is another story, but i dont hear anything of a next generation mark IV. the days of rx7 is over, lets just accept it!
side note: i get what you're saying "caranddriver", i just have the mentality that the ms8 is already made, not here and not FI though, just a all japanese ms8. haha.

I don't think it's exotic enough to be the next 7. The Kabura is interesting as a concept and perhaps as a production piston ride but not adequate IMO to be called the 4th gen 7. The 7 is a legendary car. I would like to see some of the 3 rd gen lines integrated into the new chasis/design. Something like this should be a good start. Of course the front and rear would need some work but I like the body lines....

actually i like the work the artist did on the rear. much more production worhty and a liuttle less heavy looking than the Kabura's.
whats funny is that this is the magazine that a year and a half ago or so was printing guesses and perhaps artists impressions of Mazda sketches they had seen as to what this "new rx-7 " was going to look like. and they were uncannily close to what the Kabura looked like when it was finally reveiled.
