You will never see the 13B REW (turbo) engine come back it just will not pass emissions.

i think ford kinda effed that up for mazda way back when they partnered up
Don't know what you mean Ford have been with Mazda for over 30 years, as of today they are the biggest 'single' shareholder but no longer CONTROL what Mazda does.

They are that close to totally separate companies...Ford's investment is about $400 mil now...only 13%

reading various interviews with Yamaouchi this thing it both an advantage and a disavantage.(correct?)

Example. we know that several mercury, ford and lincoln models are based on mazda6 platform (and this helps to keep costs down) but ford next gen models Ford have officially said that will be based on EUCD platform (see Ford Mondeo).

This is a problem for future developments of Mazda (rotary and mx-5 excluded).

Yes Matt, I have read much about the new set up, as we know Mazda designed/engineered all the small car Mazda/Ford platforms, they will still continue to share, BUT....

As I read, any development won't necessarily be a certain "share" each party will have to price negotiate and Mazda will guard their IT and Designs very much so...away from Ford's eyes...

we'll see.

I'm curious to see if at this Tokyo Show we'll see some prototype (im'assuming there will be a rotary-powered concept) of a medium-large car piston powered. or hybrid.

Whatever. If it actually came out, and it did look like this, u would all be droolin over it after a few weeks of seeing it featured in mags and actually seeing one in person. And if it DID put down 345hp at that weight it would be even more or a drool fest. Would be seeing the ol, "it has grown on me, i like it now", just like alot did with the R3.

to make the next gen rotary truely unique it shouldnt share a platform with any other car like they have done in the past.. ford felt the need to push the idea that their designs were better thus you saw the emergence of similarities in designs between ford and mazda and the new mazda symbol change... btw.. wtf its that supposed to represent ne ways

the rx8 was not a predecesor to the rx7...so no, Mazda didn't quite move on. It'd be nice to see a true rotary powered sports car...300+ hp....eating up evo's and Z's...man I could give 2 ***** what its gonna look like Im getting one.
