The new RX7?

The new RX7?
I spotted this one in the 370Z thread and had to steal it, since nobody else did. This is from the new Road and Track mag and it's sexy as hell. It does have a lot of styling that screams Mazda, leading me to believe it's looks are from a legit leak from Hiroshima.

I see a little of the GT-R in the roof line. And see some future RX-7/9 concept rolled up into it as well. By far Mazda concept is the only fresh and origional concept out there.
I look at the next concept for the RX, and all I see is Mazda DNA/ RX-8 in it, i look at this toyota concept and i see bits and pieces of other cars used to create one car. Toyota can do a better job.
Don't know if anybody seen that concept that they did of there past Toyota Gt2000....WOW! That was a work of art , shame that didn't get picked up to become the next Supra. It was clean, beautiful lines , and had a expensive look to it.

Useless, baseless artist rendering. The article is like all the other RX7 previews: pure speculation. "An anonymous source at Mazda says there will be a new rotary car..." Well no ****, they didn't build the 16X for giggles...

I think they should keep pushing the envelope of unique looks. No point in having a new car that's supposed to be the latest and greatest thing when it looks like they are recycling a lot of parts from previous cars..
As it stands now, if that's the real car, then I think it's just VERY sexy.

Evrythig's real nice except the front bumper. Just too much in the oil cooler vent - fog light area, gives it chryslerish look. Besides that I love it, especially the lotus like fender-hood-light part.

Your absolutely right , too much on the oil cooler vent . It's huge , cut back on that , then I like .......................

several of us who have been around here for a while have heard many rumors similar to this....something is coming in 2011. Given the variety of sources all saying the same thing, I feel pretty confident that there is truth to it.
Everything makes sense, the 16x engine, the fact the rx8 is getting its refresh that will take it out two more years, the arrival of new sports cars from Nissan, Toyota and Hyundai. I expect to see the protoype at the next Tokyo autoshow with a launch in mid to late 2010.
Mazda has stated several times that three cars would be built on the RX8 chasis, and I don't think the are dumb enough to use a sportscar platform for another CUV.
I've already started saving for the down payment

Very good looking. I believe they are woefully underestimating the power as that would be the same range as the current Renesis.
Also I think he is mis-stating whether or not an RX-7 and RX8 couild co-exist. The RX8 is not a two seater. Why wouldn't Mazda have a 2 seat and 4 seat Rotary car in their stable at the same time? On the same Chassis you'd see some great economy of scale that way. The 4 seat version would help prop. up the costs of the 2 seat version so there would not be as much pressure to sell enough of the 2 seater.
