I'm impressed so far. I'll reserve judgement until I see it in production form but they're headed in the right direction. Those exhaust pipes are huge.... i'm surprised it's not a V8.

imo v6 twin turbo > V8 due to the tuning potential, it will continue the GT-R's pedigree of being a tuner monster. If its like the previous GT-Rs, we will be seeing 1000whp GT-Rs running on stock internals.
damn, considering its supposed to go up vs porsche 911 turbo and z06, i hope Nissan can keep this baby under 60k.

i pwn therefore i am
Just looks like a more aggressive G35. I'm not saying I don't like it, but if it's going to cost $55k+ I'm very underwhelmed. Guess we'll have to wait to see the pricing and production interior and exterior before final judgment.

yeah youre right ajax, most mags are speculating between 65-75k, its not in the same performance class as corvette and M3, its in a higher performance class that compete vs porche 911 turbo, corvette Z06, new NSX and Lexus FL-A. its not meant to be a high volume sports car, its supposed to be a fairly exclusive niche market car , im not looking forward to see the price tag
One thing is for sure, though. The GT-R is going to look great, and Nissan is confident that it will be a rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo, for the same sort of money as a Porsche 911 Carrera. There's some debate inside the company whether it will be called a Nissan-which makes sense, bearing in mind the heritage-or an Infiniti, which also has merit, in light of this being the most expensive car Nissan will have sold in America. Whatever it's called, we reckon that, if it has the kind of searing performance and soul of the last generation, it will be worth its rumored $70,000 or so asking price.

It was settled as being a nissan a while back. I really didnt care for the proto but i dont know what it its about this picture but it looks much better for some reason. The roof line still bothers mebut the wing looks better. Honestly this will be the car i shoot for (yeah right) when im done with my 8.

Power!!
With the advances in turbo technology I'm suprised they went with a twin turbo setup. Seems like to get a 28% increase in HP and a 25% increase in torque they could have done that with a single turbo setup. All in all I like it and really dig the roofline.

Yeah but a single turbo setup also gives you major LAG.Sure a large single turbo is great for Top end speed times, but for everyday use , i would opt for a sequential TwinTurbo setup.

Power!!
I guess that's true. I was thinking the Porsche system was a good example but it's a twin also and makes about the same power for the same engine size when not in overboost mode. I guess I'm just used to getting 178 hp/liter...

I think its easier to do a twin turbo on a V6.... than a single turbo V6.. One turbo on each side.. this isnt sequential turbo like the FD, just two identical turbos providing power to 3 cyclinders on each side.

I think in the article either the hp estimate or the price estiamte is wrong.
...
i think either the estimated price is too high or the performance numbers are too low
at 450hp its barely more than the new 4.0L V8 powered E92 M3's 415hp, the bmw starts in the 49-52k range... its very hard to justify a 10-20k premium over the M3 with such a small power advantage. It could hardly putup a fight vs the 911 turbo that makes 480hp. As much as Nissan publicly states that they are aiming for the 911 turbo, Most magazines speculate 475-500+hp... That would make it more justifiable for the estimated price tag.
either that, or the car should be selling in the M3 range if its only making 450hp.
personally choosing between a nissan gt-R starting in the 65-75k range vs the new M3 starting in the low 50k range, Id rather go with the bimmer and call it a day even if it is a tad slower and isnt a pure breed track monster like the GT-R. Itd have to be selling below the M3 price tag for me to consider it seriously. not that I can afford it eitherway.
my bet is that it will be making more than 480hp

they havnt done anything hehe, the 450 and 475-500hp figures are all media speculations. Nissan hasnt released anything.
I personally would rather estimate high than low though based on Nissan's little fetish with having more power than the competition and the cars that the GT-R is being compared with by Nissan spokespersons
its either in the
C6 Vette, E92 M3 performance class
or more likely the
911 turbo, new NSX, LFA, Z06 performance class.
Im hoping for the cheaper class
