New Turbo 6 Down Under RAW Video
Thought some of you guys might like to see the Raw Video shoot of the new Mazda 6 taken in city and rural towns, in the state of Victoria (Mazda Australia headquarters).
Some great shots, inside and out in HD (no sound).
Gee the new 6 Wagon is a stunning looking thing, why the hell Mazda does not make one for the USA market is just beyond my thinking, Australia has every model the USA has so why not give you guys the Wagon too?..not a huge seller here, the USA would sell 10 times our numbers.
Not as if it would cost a fortune to refit, already made in LHD for EU.
There are a ton of people in the US just screaming for this thing, they don't want an SUV but a Wagon!!...FFS Mazda are you listening! you fools!.
Here there are 3 engine types, the 2.5 Turbo SEDAN AND WAGON!
The 2.5 with Cylinder Deactivation and the 2.2 Diesel.

The new 6 looks stunning. My friend says that it looks better than the Accord because it's classier. I agree with him there.
I'd think there is a reason that Mazda is not releasing the wagon in North America. Just because critics and car people like it, doesn't mean they will buy it. Just look at the 2018 Accord. It's critically favoured by a lot of car websites and magazines, and yet, Honda dealerships in the US are refusing shipments and they had to pause the production for it.
And where are the people screaming for wagons you speak of? SUVs are still more popular. Maybe it's just me on my stupid little island, but it's not like I see a lot of Golf Sportwagens, really.
As for the 2.5T, the take rate for these will be pretty low. I think the take rate for V6 Camry is around 10%, while the V6 accounted for about 20% of the total sales of the Accord in North America. It's probably not gonna be too different for the 2.5T 6.

I monitor and partake in many online forums worldwide (which I am sure you do also) and the 6 Wagon is sold in virtually all other world markets except NA.
Many contributors have asked when and where does the US wagon become available @ every iteration and face-lift or update of this generation 6 every few years.
An easy one is to look-over are the 6 car reviews done on YT in the last decade and the user comments.
Obviously there is an obsession for SUV's (like there is in Australia and Europe), the 6 Wagon is already in-production and as I see it the cost of homologating for the NA market would be little as power-train is identical to the sedan as are emission and compliance.
We get the CX-8 diesel next week, an expensive SUV, just a little longer than the CX-5, I don't see the sales numbers being that great, but MA are giving it a go.
I am certain MNAO has enough pulling power to request Japan to build a 6 Wagon for their US/NA market. Not as if the 6 is a massive seller, I would have thought Japan would welcome any allocation of this model available to Mazda Distributors.

And YES the new 6 Wagon is available with the 2.5 Turbo here in AU...nice one.
A turbo 2.5l 6 Wagon/Tourer/Kombi or whatever one wants to call it would sell well in NA...just my opinion with many others.

Like the discussion I had in the other thread with the diesel 6, you can't bet on a small number of buyers who frequent car forums. It has to appeal to all car buyers, even those who know zero things about them. In fact, they make up the market.
That said, I can see it done with some marketing magic. Just say that it's better on fuel, easier to park and don't tip over like a tower(that's stepping into car people category, though). Truth be told, I'd love to see more wagons than Sh**ty Utility Vehicles.

is that right grasshopper
Yep, nobody watches on-line car reviewer or reads anything that Motor Trend, or C&D, or WHEELS says, lost count about how many times the NA writers (journos) mention the Wagon that is not available in US.
And yeah, marketing is all spin, how well any product is sold depends on how well it is sold, for this very reason there may just be a niche for a large 6 Wagon Turbo in US,. and a 'Golf' is not a 6 and neither is a Camry, even though a Camry, Accord is in the same class, the 6 IMO has way more class and value than either, but sadly in the US the 6 will never sell in the same unit numbers....that boat left decades ago and Mazda blew it thanks to Fords coat tails at the time and that is another long story.

Yeah I thought Turbo was only available in Sedan, but as link shows Mazda Australia are showing a 6 turbo WAGON!...
ATENZA is the top grade here (with less than US Signature, just like CX-9) but we pay a lot more cash...we call it the Australia Tax.
$52,516 AUD Atenza Sedan 2.5T
$53,556 AUD Atenza Wagon 2.5T
