new wheels for my '00 accord
my stock tires are going to need replacing within the next 15k miles (which i will go through in no time) or so, and instead of replacing the tires with a stock tire size replacement, i'm actually interested in a new set of wheels all together.
18in. wheels are what i'm considering, but their pre-packaged size is typically 225/40/18 and the stock size tire for my car is 205/60/16, which according to the tire size calculator website, it is a -2.3% difference making the car over-rev and have the spedometer and odometer out of sync. the appropriate size tire to keep the spedometer and odometer in sync with the stock tire size is 245/40/18. but, at that point, would the wheels then be too wide for my car's wheel well and be rubbing the fender and/or the inside of the wheel well?
also, the tires i'm currently using on my car are Falken Ziex ze-912. this summer i will be doing a lot of mountain/canyon driving. i've liked these tires on my car so far and have given me pretty good tire performance so far. but my question regarding the tires i'm using now is if they are still a good tire for that kind of application or not. and if not, then what kind of tire should i look for when i get my new wheels that would perform better than what i've got now? i'd want a tire that would last me at least 40k miles.
oh, and i've also recently (like two weeks ago) lowered my car. i used the Eibach ProKit-system (springs, struts, and sway bars package). i'm just putting this out there if in case it makes a difference to any of the above.

if you have lowered your car with the Eibach Kit, The offset is going to affect rubbing more than anything else (other than overly wide tires).
my 01 Altima has Eibach Springs Tokico Shocks (Springs affect the lowering, probably similar to yours).
I had no problems with Rubbing until I got wheels with a different offset (not sure positive or negative, but they stick out more and car has wider stance). I have already rolled my fenders and shaved my bumper, ultimately I will be getting much lower profile tires and a slight change in alignment.
Basically if the wheel isnt wider, or the offset isn't wider, you shouldnt have much problem.
