New Z06 clocks in among supercars
A friend sent me this list:
Nurburgring times:
7:36 -- 162.631 km/h - Porsche Carrera GT
7:39 -- 161.575 km/h -- Koenigsegg CCR
7:40 --- 161.217 km/h -- Porsche GT3 RS
7:42 --- 160.519 km/h -- Mosler MT900S Photon
7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h -- Corvette Z06, 500 PS/1319
7:43 --- 160.173 km/h -- Porsche 996 GT3 RS
7:43.5 - 160,000 km/h -- Lamborghini Murcielago
7:44 --- 159.828 km/h -- Pagani Zonda C12 S
7:45 -- 159.484 km/h -- McLaren F1

There's a write up about the new Z06 in the new Road & Track. I'm surprised the 0-60 time wasn't a bit lower given it's 6.2lb per HP claim, but maybe the test conditions were crappy (I'd have to go back and see the temp, alt, etc). Either way it's a seriously fast car. I've driven a C6 with the Z51 package at one of those GM Autoshow In Motion events. That car was pretty awesome! I can imagine that the Z06 just punctuates the good points of the "regular" C6.

Or maybe the long-rumored, supercharged Blue Devil exotic (July 4) sources say they have seen pounding around the Nordschleife. Hill says those sources have inhaled too many exhaust fumes. “If you have an idea that we’re coming in a few years with something a lot better than this, you’re going to spend a lot of time on the sidewalk watching Corvettes go by.”

They're only making 10,000 Z06's, which might sound like a lot.... but it's not.
There will probably only be a few hundred blue devil's.
EDIT: Fewer than 10,000 Z06's will be produced, with a good chunk of those going to Europe according to Motor Trend.
