Well he's talking about them raising the price 12 - 17 thousand from current base. That will not happen, there's just no way. I could see a few thousand $ increase.
On another note, some more pictures:

The looks are growing on me,IMO i absolutely hated the 350Z styling, going from the semi exotic looking 300ZX Twin Turbo to the bloated 350Z was a slap in the face for many Z fans. This one is a tad easier on the eyes and it has styling cues of the origional 240Z. But from these recent pictures, some of the angles makes the car look questionable.
This is a car that I will have to see in person to to give it the proper critiquing.

I liked the Z's but I just honestly thought they were boring. Hate to say it, reminded me of a japanese mustang! A lot of torque and blandness. I briefly owned an 03 before my 8 and my brother owned an 04 modded Z for about a year, and my cousin still owned a supercharged 03 Z. I like them, but I prefer a car that I wont see 100 times everyday on the way to work. My .02

well then would you like to tell me what the price will be around, and if you have any links for that? I was looking at a 350z when I found the rx8 and the rarity (I had never seen an rx8 in person, yet i had seen 350z's on the road) + the handling and looks all swayed me to the rx, plus it helps that I LOVED the rx-7's and it was my dream to own a 3rd gen someday ........ so I figured the rx8 was just the next step up.

They are continuing the 350z roadster only.
++++++++++++++
The 2009 Nissan 350Z convertible returns to this Japanese manufacturer's lineup. The 350Z hardtop coupe has been discontinued pending a redesign due in calendar 2009, at which point it likely will be dubbed the 370Z. The 350Z convertible uses the same basic design and powertrains as the 2003-2008 models. It seats two and has a power-folding soft top with heated glass rear window. Three trim levels are offered: Enthusiast, Touring, and Grand Touring. All offer a 306-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and side airbags that provide head and torso protection. Leather upholstery and heated seats are standard on the Touring. A navigation system is optional on the Touring and Grand Touring.

Wow! that first shot really showsoff those rear fender flares, very Porsche 911 looking. That first shot almost kinda looks like a modern day 240, i stress "almost".
Like you said Jrichter, the color and angles can make or break this car, red obviosly makes this car. Thats a great looking red!

After a few months of this car being out everyone will forget about the 350Z. It's better in almost every way.
Even so, I would guess that the reason they're really hyping this car is because of the current economic situation. The number of new cars sold is falling every month in the U.S. and I they likely think they need to keep excitement high to sell these in large numbers despite the popularity of the 350Z.

But back on topic... I like how the Z went back to its roots with the short back end and the long nose with the short overhangs. I have a feeling this car may win me over , but not enough to make me go out and buy one, not just yet......
still waiting on Mazda's RX-9. Praying they make it as beautiful as the FD if not better!

Your not kidding, were in ruff times people, i heard a spokes person from GM today on the news mention they may be going bankrupt. This is the second time they mentioned that "bankrupt"word. Not good at all... so bad they put a all stop on the C7 design/production, the C7 was suppose to come out 2012/2013. Not any more.....

I still don't like it...
I'm sorry but the rear DOES NOT look like a Porsche, especially a 911....
If you look at the rear very well, it actually looks like those aftermarket (ricey) lego pieces they put on HonDUHs....especially that square-looking hole in the middle...

I don't even know what you're talking about when you say aftermarket lego parts, but the square hole in the lower bumper is where the european rear foglight goes. I guess the one on the RX8 is okay because it's rotary shaped...

^Maybee the fenders...but that's about it..THANK GOD!!!
That would have only been a disgrace to the Porsche family...
Now about our Rotary shape....At least it blends in nicely with the car!! We just don't have a gaping hole!!!
