Nissan Dealerships becoming snobby?
So my brother is in the market for a new car currently and while out we saw 2 GTR's here at a local dealership. Aside from them saying "we dont allow customers to open doors to the GTR's", they laughed when we offered over msrp for it. I'm not sure if its because of just really crappy customer service or that nissan dealerships arent used to carrying vehicles in that price range but was a really bad experience. Was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like it.

I don't blame them for being uptight about the GTR. That GTR is probably already sold to someone. The waiting list is so long for a GTR, don't expect to get one at a dealership for any amount of money. You could drop a huge down payment and get on the waiting list. you'll probably get it 2 years from now. You probably got laughed at because you didn't understand just how special the GTR is. Not that it's acceptable from a dealership, but offering to buy a GTR off the lot is just about as bad as asking an 8 owner if their engine is a V8.

I know that some dealership in NYC has GTR in stock, couple K over MSRP and its all yours.
Afterall, not that many people heard of GT-R in the States. and what did the Old R32-34 did around the world.
They walk in and like oh whats that car? aww, how much again? 80K? I might as well buy a Porsche ~ what is such an expensive car doing at a Nissan dealership ? without knowning the fact that GT-R is a legend, and it actually eat Porsche for breakfast.

I hate stupid **** like this. I mean, if you walked into most BMW, Benz, or Porsche dealerships with the intention of spending $80k+, they would treat you very well. If this Nissan dealership won't budge from $35k or MSRP that's their choice, but they still need to be polite and professional about it. Personally, if this happened to me I would post the story with the dealerships name on every Nissan forum I could find.

question, how old is your brother?
I know dealers are either ******** or will act like you dont exist if they dont believe you are in the market or capable of buying the car. If they assume wrong, it's their loss, but they should at least act professionally in my opinion. If I dont like the attitude of the salesman, I have no problem asking for someone else, and making it a point that they will be getting my sale (just to be a dick right back). If it's the whole dealership, then I'll make a point to mention I'm going elsewhere.

Back in 1999 i went to a BMW dealership in white t- shirt , bummy jeans and some sneakers, i wanted to see how snobby the sales people would be , mind you I am black person. So already there racial profiling me , and usually when i go to car dealerships i dress depart , but I wanted to see how these yuppy individuals would treat me if i look like a bum from the streets.
Check in hand from a outside bank ready to buy, all i had to do was find a car , make a deal and drive home happy.
Do you know when i arrived , there were a group of sales men talking outside, as i was looking around on the lot for a 328is coupe for my wife and I , nobody came up to me... 10 minutes went by, 20 min.... then 30 min..... went by, I found the car I wanted to buy, as I looked there way they looked the other direction.
Soon a sales woman came out to greet me, smiling and all, long story short, She got the deal ,i got the BMW i wanted and those saleman looked like they got egg on there face! They felt stupid, because they sized me up as some poor window shopper! Lesson learn .... never judge a book by its cover.
I spoke to the manager of the BMW dealership about the salesman unacceptable behavior and i told him about my stunt, he was terribly apoligetic , and offered my wife and I season tickets to the Magic just behind the front row! I am sure his salesman got a strong tounge lashing or worse! LOL!
I hate dealerships who think there one great product as Alfy said ,is the holy grail! And 9 out of 10 times its car manufactures who sell average vehicles. I go to the Ferrari dealership or the Porsche dealership around my way and even though I am just looking at the beautiful vehicles, the sales people treat me with respect. Lets face it, you step into one of those kind of dealerships, either you have the cash, or not. So its no sweat off there back.
Nissan is the worse though, i had the same problem when i was looking for my Twin Turbo Z back in the day..... went to 5 Nissan dealerships before i could even sit in the thing and actually get a test drive.

I once read about a Ferrari dealership. They didn't look at how a customer was dressed or how long their hair was. They looked at their shoes. The quality of the shoes they were wearing, determined wither they could afford the car or they were just lookers.

Nissan
Seriously though, you have to know that every Nissan delearship is being flooded on the weekends by a hundred kids in Evos and dropped Hondas asking to test drive the GTR.
If you guys were serious about making an offer on the car it's pretty rediculous that they wouldn't talk to you about cars that have not been sold. You should contact several nissan delaerships in your general area, I'm sure you will find one who will talk to you.

I hate all common dealerships(Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc), the A-holes they get to work for them is unacceptable!

Thats a insult..... I went to pick a oil filter for my Titan at my local Nissan dealership one day and I drove my RX-8, one of the A-hole salesmen standing outside made a smart *** coment that i rather be riding a bicycle then drive a RX-8. I said oh really, why do you say that? He then decided to tell me his mis-informed opinion about rotaries and how how all rotaries blow there motors at 30k. I told I am still on my original rotary and well beyond that 30k mark , he didn't believe me , so I told him to follow me, opened my door and turned my car on , i said look at that number, he was shock to see 80k miles on the clock, i told him my car is running flawless and all i do is change the oil, run her to 9500rpm on the regular and put gas in her and do the required maitnance. That answer wasn't good enough for him so he made up another excuse saying that i got a run of the mill RX-8 that must have been built when everybody was getting a bonus that week....YEAH RIGHT!!!!

That's funny. I have a small hole in one of my office shoes (can't spot it unless you know about it) and I proudly drive my RX-8. On the other side I have coleagues that wear shoes worth the equivalent of 5 of my tankfull's and they can't afford half of my car...

Its the same way mitsubishi was whent he evo 8's came out.. when i was gonna buy a car.. that was my choice coming from a regular lancer..
I was 17 at the time and they overlooked me.. 1. because i was mexican 2. because of my age..
they wouldnt let me open it up or sit down on it unless i already had the money in hand and ready to make a deal..
MSRP was 32K for a white EVO
o walked right across the street to mazda and the guy welcomed me and saw me looking at the 8 and said wanna test drive? drove it
took him around the park until we got the deal we wanted the numbers look good. interest rate good.. payments good. and got the price lowered by 2 K bucks...
took it home for a little over 30K fully loaded. extended warranty..
I told the guy aboutt he mitsubishi dealership all he said "They must not have a family to feed"
Or simple dont wanna sell a car hahahaha
happiest day of my life.

Thought this was fitting for this thread.

Now, call me crazy, but supposedly a dealer chimed in and said one car was theirs and was already sold, but something stinks...

Could this be true? A pair of brand new pre-delivery GT-Rs at the Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, WI, USA on the weekend. These cars were still completely covered in interior plastics and are said to have arrived to the drag strip wearing dealer tags.
If it is, surely these can’t be sold to unassuming customers as brand new cars!?
Be careful if you’re buying one of these in Southeastern WI or Northern Illinois/Chicago areas. You will want to verify the delivery mileage as well as general tire condition and so forth.
Thanks to Nick who shot these photos for passing them along to us.

I used to own a nissan (granted it was just an '02 SE-R) and whenever I used to try to get it serviced or parts, it was always the cold treatment. Heck, when I was thinking about trading the car in and getting a new one, the 350Z was on my list. They didn't let me test drive it because "people who buy the Z know what they are getting". That's what was stated to me by one of their wonderful salesmen. Mitsubishi let me test drive their Evo and Mazda let me drive the 8 know questions asked besides do you have a valid drivers liscence.
I haven't driven a Z to this day.

I was treated badly at Coggin Honda in Orlando when I was shopping for a birthday gift for my wife (A new Honda Civic). The salesman made me feel like I was wasting his time, and kept giving me the run-around over a deal I was trying to make with him. Finally he looked at me with a cocky pissed-off look and said "you're not here to buy a car." I assume he meant I was there to waste his time, so I stood up, smiled at the hand he had offered me, and walked towards the door, nodding at his manager with a huge grin on my face as I walked out.
The next day they were both outside drinking coffee with a few others as I drove through their lot in my wife's new Honda Civic. I gave them a nice quick honk and a wave as I drove off.
My buying experiences with Mazda dealerships haven't been bad. I went to two different dealerships to buy two different Mazdas in a one year period (the RX-8 in 2005, and the Mazda5 in 2006). For the first car, I was greeted immediately upon arriving with my wife at the dealership in my crappy old beater.
The salesperson immediately asked me what I was looking for and walked me over to where most of the 8s were located. I didn't see any in GT trim that were MT and didn't have the NAV so I was starting to lose hope when he said, "there's still one more car." He walked me into the showroom and there she was, parked beautifully under good lighting. It was love at first sight. Less than an hour later I drove the car away, without signing a single document (they had just opened for business and didn't have any computers set up, I think I was their first sale). All I had to do was give them my driver's license so I assume they could run a credit report, and called my insurance to add the car to my policy.
A month and 800+ miles later I went to sign all the paperwork (that's when they started playing games, but I immediately informed them we had agreed on a certain deal, and if that deal wasn't given to me I would simply call my wife to come get me and leave him with a slightly used car).
The Mazda5 we handled mostly over emails/phone. I had a deal worked out before I even showed up, so it was a different situation.
I think dealerships have their own independent philosophies in how they sell their vehicles regardless of who builds the vehicles. Some will allow their salespeople to be more aggressive, borderline rude, and to treat different customers differently. Others have strict rules where all customers must be respected, and treated the same.
