No longer an RX-8 owner
Unfortunately, it was time for me to move on. I had my 8 checked out and the conclusion was it was time for an engine replacement. They tried an engine flush and had the car for a few days. I was at a little over 96,000 miles on the original engine. Even though I was within the engine warranty window from what I have read here...I am in a location where that warranty does not apply. I am currently assigned to Germany. I didn't really have the time or space to do the work myself and the cost on the German economy would take some deep soul searching (or moreso weighing the cost/benefit). To add on to it...within 2 days of picking up my new car the car started having an issue holding a charge (I'm thinking somewhere else in the charging system because I replaced the battery inside the last 2 years). Well...when they came to get my 8 I was pretty sad...it's been a fun almost 7 1/2 years. Thanks RX-8 club for all the info about this special and unique car! You have been helpful on things from figuring out a variety of things from fuel economy to figuring out faulty coils and even including wiring diagrams for the Bose equipped 8's. I don't think this will be my last rotary powered car (unless Mazda completely stops making them). I have moved on to a 2011 BMW 135i with M Sport Package. Again, thanks RX8 Club!
