Sorry to get off topic, but Wow! That's so cool you've heard of lime creek road!
It's not near DFW, it's north of Austin, about two or three miles from my house!
We drive it as much as we can with the car clubs, and, of course, it's always fun to hit it solo... it's not as long as the Tail of the Dragon (what is?), but it's damn fun.

The most recent "victim" was an 2007 M6 who few off one of the hairpins, plowed through some barbwire, broke a few wheels, and bent some stuff... I'm sure a lot of expensive stuff.

Here's one my favorite sections

Yes, it's not as nimble as the 8 but that's understandable given that the 8 is one of the best in class. The GTO is no slouch though and more than makes up for it in raw power.
Well said... Objectivity - it's the mark of a true enthusiast.

DD, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The GTO is quite possibly the most visually unappealing car I have seen in years. It makes a WRX look elegant. The nice thing is, you can lay on your stomach and look under your trailerhouse to admire it from the backyard.

I kid, but that sort of driving does not interest me. Enjoy!

Some have said that about the 8 and the Z .Personally I think the G35 sedan is the most visually unappealing car I've seen in years.

Before I traded in my RX8, I took one last picture of it next to my new GTO.
Take note. This is a very rare photo. Apparently, the RX8 and GTO are not allowed to exist in the same universe, so having them this close together must have caused a tear in the fabric of time and space. According to a few "experts", I came damn close to destroying everything in existence.

That's weird, that picture makes the GTO look almost as small as the 8.

I didn't notice that. It does, doesn't it? Turns out the GTO is 15 in. longer... I guess thats why we fit four 6 footers with four golf bags in the trunk and drove off to the tournament.

Length × Width × Height in:
RX-8 is 174.3 × 69.7 × 52.8
GTO is 189.8 x 72.5 x 54.9

Hey YaXMaN, that's an awesome picture of the two.

So what are your impressions after driving the two? Personally, I havn't felt the GTO get out of control or get to the tipping point yet. I have felt the LS2 really open up after 500 miles. I am at about 660 and the car feels a lot smoother. Whether it be shifting, turning, or acceleration, the car is really opening up and everything that was rubbing together for the first time is setteling into a groove.

Every mile that I add onto the tach in this car makes it that much better.

I've driven a modded '90 Mustang LX 5.0 through snow and ice... NC, NY, Vermont... Florida rain... no problems. Doesn't even have traction control! Once you've settled in with the power and limits of the car... it's not that big a deal.

Man, I'm really glad you're enjoying you new car!!! Okay, the first time I went to the track, I met another '05 GTO owner (he was running 13.2's with very light mods on a shitty track btw). He had almost 20K miles on his car, and said the engine was still loosening up and making more power. Now that I have over 15K miles, I believe him. That LS2 just keeps getting stronger and stronger. It's crazy. 660 miles? Dude. You're nowhere near broken in. Just wait til the first jump that comes about 1500-2000. You will notice it. Then another around 5K, 10K. SEG all over again. Also, I don't know if you've been driving around in the heat, but the LS2's HATE anything over 85 degrees. GM definitely doesn't want their engines pinging. The first 50-60 degree day you get, you'll be saying "What in the hell possessed this engine??". It's freakishly mean at 60 degrees.

Are those upgraded wheels from the factory in that picture? That's the one thing I couldn't stand about it when it came out.... the wheels are awful. The GTO looks so much better with a new set.
