the platform is already designed. The next MX-5 gets one based loosely on the current platform with various modifications due to the new sky active influences etc. the next RX car will be built on that platform but slightly elongated to allow for a rear seat.


as for profit from the RX-8. yes the have made a profit. has it been as profitable as they would like? no. has it been more troublesome then they would have liked? yes. has it been the success they had hoped for. no, at least not in the US sales wise. Elsewhere it was as successful as they had hoped.
