I do not know how correct this 'news' is, BUT for the face-lifted new Mazda 6 due for launch in UK (R.H.D) I see ZERO Talk of ANY 2.5 Turbo Petrol engine.

Yes, the New 2.5l with Cylinder Deactivation (not new has been available in 2018 2.5l CX-5 for a year now).

A 2.0 Litre Version, (Wow, what a snail that would be), plus the 2.2l Turbo Diesel.

I hope this does not apply to R.H.D Australian Mazda 6 as the 2.5l Turbo was basically confirmed by Mazda Australia, I think..

No, you're right ,NO turbo gasoline engine for us in Europe.

I suspect that Mazda has not invested in a EU-compliant emission rules of the turbo engine, no CX-9 and no 6 turbo in sale here.

Co2 fleet limits have done the rest part.

Let's see what will happen with the next gen products (2020)

Pretty common practice.

It's the same in China. I know that the 9th Gen Accords are offered with a 2.0 NA engine option there, and the V6 is downsized to 3.0(rather than 3.5 in North America).

I am sure the 2.0 engine would be slow, given how slow the 2.5 engine is, but in China and some busier cities in Europe, people just want a tool to get around. They don't need the acceleration, but fuel economy sure means a lot to them.

And hey, if I survived driving a Suzuki Jimny with a 1.3 NA engine that does 0~60 in 13 seconds, I think any car is fine at this point.

Not so sure now about the EU Emissions compliance as we in Australia now use the Euro emissions standard (Australian Government Regs back from November 2016), and AFAIK we are getting the Turbo according to my contact, a few months after US release.??

There is a CX-9 Turbo being release in the middle east.?, distributed through MME.?

probably is more a Co2 emissions average of Mazda fleet in EU.

Mazda is the best for Co2 in US , but the worst in EU

Co2 tests in Eu are absolutely unreal (but the new WLTP tests seem more realistic)..but diesel gate is not Co2-related..is Nox related.

Mazda in my opinion is waiting the next gen products for returning into "+200HP" market, there are fines for Car makers that don't respect the roadmap ofCo2 reduction.

And we know that hybrids and EV for Mazdaare not around the corner or core business for the next 5 years

Ford and Mazda’s average CO2 emissions increases can be attributed to increased registrations of the Mustang and MX-5 respectively.

Says it all about stupid weighted average in any testing, obviously if ANY car brand mostly offers only 1.0-1.5 litre engines then CO2 will be lower.

Edit: Anyone know what the Global "average" of Hybrid/EV's from a sales point of view actually is.. 1%, 3% or more?

mazda basically don't sell supermini (Mazda 2) in huge numbers in EU, mostly are sales of diesel CX-5 , a car that is considered "large" here in EU.

Germans are selling cars with plug-in in order to low the average emissions of fleet. Mazda (no hybrids, no EV of now) needs engines like Skyactiv X.
