Offical Grand-Am GT RX-8 Thread

I was grinning when Robert Thorne took his first stint in the Racer's Edge RX-8 and promptly went out and got bounced by a DP. Man that car got the snot knocked out of it the entire race. To finish 10th after all that I think bodes well for their season. Hell...even the Sobe car would have been pretty strong if they didn't have that flat the apparently destroyed one of the oil coolers. Love the paint job on it too!
Congrats to the entire Speedsource team! Awesome performance...what where they leading, something like 250 laps? Ended with a 5 lap lead over the next car, the Porsche with Andy Lally behind the wheel. At the end, Sylvain said they were "all out" the entire race, and the car was bulletproof. Amazing prep work guys!
Did anyone catch when the commentators said the engine in the #70 cost $35k? They said it wouldn't need to be rebuilt until after about 54 hours of race time, and the rebuild cost was $8k. The commentators remarked that it was "cheap"! Oy...if I had 35k lying around.
Also found this...video of the pre-race meeting in the Speedsource trailer. Sylvain says "ya follow me?" alot.

Previous link works for me, albeit a bit more slowly than earlier, but you can try this one too. I'm sure as they add new videos, the Speedsource pre-race meeting will move down a bit. If I had a brain in my head, I'd probably download and stick it on YouTube. But, I'm a tard.

Congrats to All Teams and Keep Up the Momentum!!!
Your efforts compelled me to watch all 14 hours of Speedvision coverage and stayed up for all but two hours of the streamed audio. It looked like things got pretty dicey from the weather, but you were able to prevail despite a few near misses. It's fantastic that all you starters were able to finish, let alone, so well! I think I was able to TiVo all the times your rotarys were shown, but missed that magic in-car lap that Speedvison usually does. I suppose they left it out, intentionally, due the the clear "rev envy" that the sounds of our cars create. LOL! Here's wishing you the best for an outstanding season!!

To see these guys perform live is worth every penny. the cold, and unpredictable weather to deal with!

So who says rotary powered machines aren't reliable? The #70 not having any complicated problems was quite impressive. A lot of people were running into suspension pieces breaking and engines over heating in addition to accidents and blowouts.
