Sucks about the 69. It was running out of gas as well, took a splash with a few minutes to go, and then the car locked up coming out of pit row and hit the exit wall. Think they finished but the $#&*(@$# SPEED coverage didn't tell us.

Yeah, freakin' crazy race!
Amazing job, Speedsource team!!!
I have not seen a road race with so many last lap dried-up empty fuel tanks in my history of following.
I got so lost in the Podcast (my French sux) that I went out and cut the grass to kill time for the SPEED broadcast.
Yup, I want the title!!!
Not as concerned with the weight increase, but I was really upset about the rev limit, way too stupid... c'mon, the stock rotary redlines at 9k, you boneheads!!
I really did enjoy this DP run entirely, the finish had me whooping with laughter... Poor Brumos...

Damn, #70 just missed out on back to back... to back victories. Finished 2nd at Circuit Gilles. Just 6 points behind in the leader standings, Nice!

Yeah, that was probably THE most interesting race I've watched this year. The last 20 minutes was an absolute blast. They were all going completely ***** out, and Speedsource's race management was fantastic...what a great strategy. Too bad the Stevenson Motorsports team had the same idea, otherwise Sylvain would have smoked them too. Oi...if I could buy this race on DVD, I would without thinking twice.
Not sure that Speedsource can take the season though. I think with the added weight and RPM limits they've placed on the RX-8s, and the weight adjustments they gave back to the Pontiacs, that Grand-Am just basically said "Here ya go Banner Racing, we're giving you your championship back."
What a great race.

Speedvision TV had a rough time keeping up with the last lap as any broadcast would. The first unoffcial results still showed SpeedSource back in 6th or 8th and then the final showed them second. Really good news, only four points back but I am concerned about the RPM restriction. As Sylvain said that is where we get our power, in the higher revs.

Sylvain was not happy about the RPM restriction which really sucks. Looks like Grand Am is sucking Posrches tailpipe.

Mazda should send someone in to explain the rotary engine to the moronic rule makers. Hell just loan one of them an 8 and put him on the track with a rev limit of 7k. Probably about the equivalent of what the 20b is losing.

Hello Sylvain,
The last lap was wild and glad you guys pulled of second place. RX-8 fans are not happy at all for the new restrictions placed on the RX-8. 8600 RPM’s? What are these people thinking at Grand AM???
Anyway, we will be cheering you guys on and hope you close the gap and take the championship.
Sincerely,

As most of us agree, the Speedsource team is very gracious and down-to-earth.
I haven't met Ham/Tremblay personally, but I did meet and chat with Rafa Matos. Really receptive and loves our support. You'll have to wear a brightly colored and conspicuous outfit so we can see you...

I'll be heading down there also. I haven't got my tickets yet but I figure I can get them when I get there. Ya, the SpeedSource guys are great. I met the whole team 2 times this year and they are great to talk to. in fact all the teams I met were really nice. I'm not sure but Marlon might be putting together a Mazda corral.

The best that I'll get for my vacation is a dive trip in Tobago (hopefully right after a hurricane, lotsa conch shells). I'll have to leave some time free next season for a few Grand-Am races. I'll never skip Daytona again when Mazdas are running!!

Awesome, i was wondering if any of the Jersey fellas were gonna go see the race. #70 has been whoopin some *** and if they win this race they will likely pull into first place in the standings with the season nearing its end. Exciting stuff, i can only imagine how these things sound in person screaming around the track.

hopefully the new RPM penalty wont do too much damage, Speedsource is only a half dozen points behind but I fear that the new rules favoring the porsches may see some valuable points away from the mazdas, once Porsche figures out good fuel management that is.....

As I protested previously, even a BONE STOCK RX-8 Redlines @ 9k.
Grand-Am Rules Committee, PLEASE HEAR US!!!
Probably a curse also, but I'd rather see another 20kg weight penalty added than take away the revs... Any opinions??

I met Sylvain in their paddock area at Homestead Speedway and spent a lot of time watching the team work. I was able to speak to many of the team members and you could not find a more down to earth bunch of people. Sylvain stopped twice to where we could take pics together. Even when they were trying to cure excessive right front tire wear.
I'll be watching on Speedvision tonight and hope they win.
The Grand-Am Rules Committee have gone to far restricting an enigines performance by limiting RPM's. Maybe Porsche has whined enough where the brats can have their way.

probably the same. High rpms use up their fuel pretty quick. Its been said here by those that asked SS the question.
But the thing is that they could use some extra RPMs when they need it....

Yea limiting a car's natural redline is just complete bullshit. Maybe if they were modifying it to an extent that gives them a clear edge over the competition then maybe i could see but not when its the freakin car's natural redline, its just a bunch of ****. Im not sure how much it will affect the race, but from the races i have watched the Speedsource 8's benefit greatly in the straights by being able to wind it out to redline, passing up the bitch *** porsche's at will.

They still won after all the rule changes, that is good news.
With the new redline limit, they can tune the engine to produce max power earlier, or if they couldn't they could still tune it for more average power.
But even with all that, I bet the engine is weaker than before as the 3-rotor really needs rev to build power.
