it slowed down when it was leading, probably due to mechanical problems.

I was at the race on the weekend. Great Race, the MAzda's were representing very well. The crash involving the #70 was BS. My pictures didn't turn out too great, but I have some more coming from a friend.

Sucks that the 86 went kamikazee but people need to chill out about them doing it on purpose. He had just been passed by the 70 for the lead and just got stupid. I think the penalty should have been harsher by GA then a drive thru, especially since the 86 was involved in a couple other things during the race, but this was in no way orchestrated. This isn't Talledega Nights.

Yeah. Nice to see two Mazda's up on the podium. Here's Nick interviewing the Racer's Edge team at Mid-Ohio:

I know it isn't intentional, just careless, childish and disrespectful. This is a "gentlemans racing" league. Those dimwits know the rules!
I have already appealed for more enforcement of the rules to the GA Committee...
There would be a lot less BS like this if points were subtracted instead of a stupid stop-go penalty.

hmm just curious, the Racer's Edge team is the only team without the latest bumper, anyone know the reason? It would look pretty sick in red.

Also the #86 car had an illegal refueling piece along with 2 DP teams. Don't they share the same pitstop with the #87 car? but only the #86 car got the penalty?
http://admin.grand-am.com/assets/200...tionList4b.pdf
They were fined $7,500.00 15 Team, 15 Driver, 15 MFG. Points. The only GT team found with that piece, it gives 1sec advantage in refueling according to SpeedTV's coverage.

Still, not enough punishment for the driving antics...

I would love to have your club come out to display your cars and for the clubs that bring 25+ cars to the event, on Sunday October 11th they will have an opportunity to do some parade laps around the oval track and the road course at speeds of 70 – 80 mph. The other option would be registering prior to September 15th deadline to have that opportunity.
Please call me or e-mail me with any questions you may have regarding this event. It would be great exposure for your club and also for full day of activities surrounding the show. If you would like me to come out to any of your meets to speak personally with your members I would be more than happy to.
Thank you again for your time.

the #86 crash into #70 potentially cost the #70 team a chance at chasing down the championship. if they would have stayed in the lead and won the race they would have aquired enough points over #87 in the race to give them a good chance with the last few races of chasing them down in the points. but instead they lose ground and it will pretty much take a dnf from the #87 to have a chance at chasing them down. they were still in good contention, but now it's a pretty far cry.

All of the above are correct. The Nonnamakers are looking at replacing the Corvettes and Wayne wanted the opportunity to get some seat time in our RX-8 as part of the decision making process.
We will have Tom Sutherland back in the car with Dane again this weekend, so are looking to build on our Watkins Glen podium.

I bet that yellow dragon car is involved. Was the fastest 8 at daytona and both the 69 and 70 chassis are getting a little long in the tooth.
Should help get some more mazdas on the podium next year.
