The new Pirelli tires seem to be a lot better, and lasts longer than the old Hoosiers according to Matt Connelly of MCM. Would this help the RX-8? Or its an equal advantage since everyone is getting the new tires.

I was going to go but do to my own racing proyect I cant, so you are going to have company since I usually wacth the entire 24 hr, when the US speed stops broadcasting lating speed keeps going and do the entire 24 hrs

The pirelli will help, but remember that what is equal its not an avantage, it will help all cars, I think what will make the biggest diference will be the 50 lbs less

If they last a lot longer couldn't that be a disadvantage for the 8's?

I remember specifically a few races I watched where the Porsche's were running out of tires way before the Mazda's.

Not only we have the 50lbs back, we have more RX-8s on the field for the whole season (Hypersport and Racers Edge), some will run up front (Speedsource #70), and some could run at the back. Unless all of them run at the front, the governing body will have a tough time to come up with reasons that the RX-8 is too quick. To give them weight or tire disadvantage.

Wouldn't it be more difficult for other teams to run the rotary engine? Assuming they've always worked with piston motors. But they should've figured that out before they brought out their checkbooks.

BERNHARD, MAASSEN AND BERGMEISTER JOIN FARNBACHER LOLES FOR ROLEX 24\

ATLANTA (December 15, 2007) -- Upon his return from Porsche's annual banquet in Weissach Germany, Farnbacher Loles Principal Owner Gregory Loles announced the addition of three world-class Porsche drivers to the team for the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

"We are very happy to welcome Timo Bernhard, Sascha Maassen and J?rg Bergmeister to bolster our already stellar lineup," Loles said. "This is a significant development not only for Farnbacher Loles, but also for the fans and the series. It also gives us considerable responsibility to put Porsche back on the podium in this storied race."

Filling out two of the team's seven entries, Bernhard, Maassen and Bergmeister join 2007 Rolex Series Champion Dirk Werner, along with 2005 Daytona Champs Dominik Farnbacher, Wolf Henzler, and Pierre Ehret. After leading for much of the 2007 race and taking two podiums during the season, Leh Keen returns for another shot at the Daytona win along with team newcomer Eric Lux, who also ran strong last season.

In the third team car, Farnbacher Loles welcomes Dave Lacey and Greg Wilkins. Driving the No. 88 Porsche GT3 Cup, the two drivers are series veterans and have finished on the podium twice in the Rolex 24. Canadians Lacey and Wilkins will be joined by two additional drivers to be announced soon.

Running in a fourth Farnbacher Loles Porsche entry are three other drivers joining the team for the first time: Rolex 24 veterans Ben McCrackin and Ross Smith along with series newcomer Russell Walker.

I love the GT class! It's fun to watch and the racing is always full of drama. Now if they could just pull out the DP from the mix. I saw one all-GT race and it was the best race to watch yet.
