Offical Grand-Am GT RX-8 Thread

Do these allegations hold any truth? Do the 8's seem to have an advantage? I know they limited the redline already from last season but I mean come on....seems like senseless whining to me
#1577
I don't know of an advantage since Grand-Am has been adding weight to them as well as the rpm-limit change. Also people need to realize the odds are in Mazda's favor when they make up half the field, there has not been a single dominating Mazda car.

People will always whine when a person, team, company, whatever keeps winning.
I just enjoy being able to watch Mazda race, and race well. Looking forward to tomorrow at the Glen.

Yeah, just imagine if the stakes were switched, nobody was whining about Porsche winning when they had 30 cars in the race.

RX-8s 1,2,3 at the moment
30, 70, 68
...nevermind, 70, 30, 68
I cant find a link to the coverage on Speed.com they keep advertising. Nothing apparent on the page. Hoping they are just holding till 4pm to provide it.

WTF. 97 Camaro just dumped the 69. 69 had the line cleanly, and the 97 Camaro just divebombed it and dumped him. At least the innerloop sand trap is now paved... didn't hit anything else...but wtf.
Edit: Good. Just gave 97 a penalty.

Gratz to 2 Podiums, and with a Porsche win, I would hope that they quit crying some.
But then, their crying hasn't exactly been the most sensible thing around, so they will probably keep crying more now that they won. And would have had 2 podiums without that alternator failure, since the 44(?) Porsche was setting lap times none of the 8s could match.
I'm not asking for Porsche to get handicapped, I think the field is really competitive as it is, and it isn't like the 8s aren't racing each other. That battle at the end was awesome

We were getting it Live here too from "The Glen"...
The RX-8's looked superb, bummer that GUE had a pitting mishap (if that is what happened?), he probably should have won.
But yeah, it will shut Porsche up for a while..

It's too bad that Porsche will constantly cry until things change to the point that they finally come in first ahead of 6 RX-8's in a row in a race yet they won't accept a sure thing race challenge from a Mini. If they lost that race, and I don't know how they could, they'd probably cry until the variables of the race were changed.

Perfect example: Fans on the rear tires/brakes???
NOBODY else is doing that, even the Bimmer guys.
Was seriously thinking about going to the Mid-Ohio/EMCO event...
Heat is gonna be oppressive.
