There's a difference in the two instances. Lauda didn't run for safety reasons. Hamilton was either just unmotivated or "trying to save the equipment"

You, sir, couldn't have said this better!! Lauda did it for safety reasons unlike Hamilton... He knows he couldn't win and pleaded not to race anymore... In my book that is called a "quitter"... nothing more nothing less.

typical ferrari fans, already to write off hamilton. just like the last race for 2008. remember when all the ferrari fans and pits where jumping for joy , because they thought hamilton was done? i would think you guys would of learned your lesson by now. so let me refresh your memory , flame on

Lewis Hamilton has said he would contest the famous Le Mans endurance sports car race with Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes' Le Mans history is littered with success and failure: after the 1955 Le Mans disaster the German marque withdrew for decades, returning with some success with Sauber in the late 80s.
Another return in the late 90s culminated in another withdrawal after Mercedes' cars, one of them driven by new grand prix winner Mark Webber, repeatedly flipped at the 1999 Le Mans 24 hours.
"If Mercedes-Benz want to go to Le Mans one day and take me, I'll do that," the reigning formula one world champion, who drives with works Mercedes power for McLaren, told Britain's Sun newspaper.
Briton Hamilton, 24, said he is also interested in trying other forms of premier motor sport.
"I'd love to try a MotoGP bike but not particularly race one. I would love to try one of Malcolm Wilson's rally cars -- and one day I might try a NASCAR," he added.
He said he is not interested in America's premier Indy 500 race.
"To do the Indy 500 you have to be going at it. It would be unreasonable for me to expect to get in the car and go and win it.
"You have to have a good season in that kind of thing so I don't have any particular desire to do that," said Hamilton.

It is said that a new Concorde Agreement, to bind the teams and the commercial rights holders to the FIA until the end of 2012, is ready to be given the final green light by Max Mosley and the 26 World Motor Sport Council members.
An addendum to the agreement is the separate so-called Cost Regulation Document, which was discussed and was close to completion after the 13 teams for 2010 met last week at FOTA's Geneva headquarters.
Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that Williams' chief executive Adam Parr has been tasked with ensuring that the FOTA teams' undertakings to reduce their budgets to 1990s levels are understood and accepted by the non-FOTA independent teams.
"There have been very long negotiations and now it is time for the conclusion," Hermann Tomczyk, the German club ADAC sport president and an FIA official, told the SID news agency.

Too bad.. It would have been nice to see her *** whipped in F1. I guess she said that she will miss french fires, hamburgers and good old "american food" so much that European fine and lean cuisine is not her style...

I am considering putting both on ignore to filter them away to get to the actual discussion rather than just stupid flaming.

I agree with the article that the warmer temperature will suit the Brawn car more than the last two races when Button has been struggling for the slightest tire temperature.
And I am also willing to give a little half-way prediction. I think the championship will fall to Button in the end and the constructors will go to Red Bull.
Button wins because I think the Brawn car is better on warmer tracks (which we will get now) and that the lead is enough.
Red Bull wins the constructors because Barichello seems to be unable to keep it together and actually win races. In my opinion, he just seems to be lacking that special extra that Button has that makes you win, repeatedly.

I know Blue. He isn't like that in real life. It just comes out on the webs.
All Barichello has to do is finish next to Button and gain needed points and Braun can (and I think will) take this years championship.

We don't know how good the upgrade package the Red Bulls just received is in the warm. It might even be that they have closed the gap to Brawn. If so this could turn to a struggle for Button just to get as many points as possible to keep the gap.
Damn it would be cool if it all got decided in the last race again.
Oh and don't forget that Massa and Raikkonen both have seen the podium this year. If the Ferraris get hungry for points and the margins shrink. And of course the McLaren seems to have taken a giant leap. Damn I long for this weekend to see what is what.

According to reports by the German newspaper 'Bild', former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve is closing in a on deal to return to Formula One with the new USF1 Team in 2010. Villeneuve didn't want to refer to USF1 but said to the publication: "It is true, I will return to Formula One."
According to 'Bild', the team would have its first car, designed at Charlotte, North Carolina, ready in October. USF1 would also be looking at Le Castellet, France, and Aragon, Spain, as their European base.

It may not be a US driver, but it is an experienced North American. Paul Ricard has also been suggested as a euro base of ops.
