It's called youth. We all had it, but it is a fleeting condition.

Mercedes still debating F1 involvement

31/07/09 11:11

The value of Mercedes' involvement in Formula One is still the topic of debate within parent company Daimler, board member Helmut Lense insists.

Earlier this year, Lense was quoted as suggesting that Mercedes should be pulled out of the sport in favour of more worthy projects. Now, in the wake of fellow German carmaker BMW's decision to withdraw at the end of 2009, he reveals that uncertainty about the Mercedes engagement is still debated internally.

"This discussion will surely continue to heat up in light of BMW's withdrawal," Lense told the Stuttgarter Nachrichten newspaper.

Immediately after the BMW announcement on Wednesday, however, a Mercedes spokesman said the marque regretted the decision but insisted it "does not have any influence on our Formula One engagement".

------------------------------

BMW is out. If Mercedes goes, where are engines coming from? I don't think Cosworth can ramp up to supply them that quickly.

Screw Piquet!
They interviewed Massa and he spoke in 3 languages making me laugh for how comic he has been regarding the accident in italian
He also added "i'm sure that my car is in good hands now, you ask me what to tell to MICHAEL? come on, he is a champion!".
I love how modest he is and i hope to se him back soon!

Oh come on alfy, i was just being happy for Massa's conditions I already said that Michael probably won't be up to his old standards
Seeing Felipe laughing and joking after the terrible accident was good, seriously. I don't care about his team now but about his conditions!

Canada to host GP in 2010 - Ecclestone

Date 2009-08-04
By Motorsport.com/GMM

Canada is set to return to the Formula One calendar next year, Bernie Ecclestone has promised.

"I promise we will be in Montreal in 2010," the F1 chief executive told Switzerland's Motorsport Aktuell.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve event was omitted from this year's schedule after Ecclestone could not agree financial terms with race organisers.

But he has been under intense pressure to reinstate the race as soon as possible, especially as the crucial North American market is now completely missing from the calendar.

"Everyone in Formula One loves the Canadian Grand Prix," Ecclestone admitted.

He had bad news, however, for those hoping the United States might quickly return to the schedule. "Forget Indianapolis. We're not going back there," said the 78-year-old Briton.

Ecclestone also suggested that Great Britain's annual date is not under threat, explaining that if Donington can deliver a Formula One race "then we will be there".

"If not, then we will be staying in Silverstone," he added.

Ecclestone also said he hopes Korea and India are the next countries to host grands prix.

Also, Ferrari had asked the FOTA to allow MS to test in the current car, as he will be substituting for Massa following his accident. Williams vetoed that request after several teams (including McLaren) said it would be OK. He has been testing with a 2007 car. After the Williams anouncement, the 2 Red Bull team also said they had a problem with the request also.
There was a problem when it was discovered he was using slick tires and not the grooved tires. Ferrari explained that the were not the current F1 tires. He was testing with GP2 spec tires.
MS had gained 6 kg since he last raced. He has now lost 3 of those.
"I think he's going to give one or two of them a driving lesson," Bernie Ecclestone
Since the MS anouncement, ticket sales for Spa have increased to 1/min. Spa being close to the German border. (My father-in-law went there in 1945 with Patton. )

yah, redbull and williams are going veto the request for MS testing the car. i agree with them also, they wouldnt allow a newbie to test the car that bordai drove. also this is MS so i really doubt he couldnt get up to speed in a lap or so.
