Our beloved Spa track is in danger!
http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...23155736.shtml
Belgium has joined Canada and Germany in the uncertainty about their spots on the 2010 Formula One calendar.
Canada is yet to agree a contract with Formula One Management, and the Hockenheim circuit in Germany is still negotiating after saying it was no longer willing to absorb annual million-euro losses.
Belgium also has a spot on next year's race schedule, but it emerged on Wednesday that the famous and popular Spa-Francorchamps circuit has had its operating license revoked by a local administrative court.
The license has been rescinded until 2026, upon request by a board of local residents complaining about noise, according to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir.
It is believed that the Spa operators were ordered to submit an environmental impact study, which has been denounced by the court as "seriously inadequate and incomplete."
"The whole viability of the circuit may be questioned," circuit director Pierre-Alain Thibaut, who vowed to contest the decision, said.
Meanwhile, a meeting in Bernie Ecclestone's London office on Tuesday seems to have moved Canada closer to returning to the Formula One calendar next year although some matters remain to be settled.
The Montreal race has been allocated a provisional date on the 2010 schedule, but F1 chief executive Ecclestone said after the meeting that all the documents still have not been "signed properly."
"The issues that we had were minor, but I think we've managed get around them," he is quoted as saying by CBC.ca.
The Briton met with Michael Fortier, representing the Canadian levels of government central to the return of the event to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
"Negotiations continue," Fortier said. The former Canadian Minister of International Trade indicated however that the details to be ironed out do not involve monetary issues.

Title sponsor ING axes Renault backing
http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...24204421.shtml
Renault's title sponsor ING late on Thursday said it has terminated its contract with the French team "with immediate effect."
Mere hours after Spanish insurance backer Mutua Madrilena pulled its logos from the R29 for the same reason, the Dutch bank ING said it has also decided to end its association with Renault because of the Crashgate scandal.
It is believed that both sponsors cite a clear and serious breach of contract, due to clauses requiring the Enstone-based team to comply with FIA rules and regulations.
"ING is deeply disappointed at this turn of events, especially in the context of an otherwise successful sponsorship," a media statement issued late on Thursday read.
The statement went out to the world's media in the dead of the Singapore night, after team mechanics had throughout Thursday worked on the fully ING-branded cars in the pits of the Asian city-state's street circuit.
All team equipment as well as personnel and driver apparel also carried prominent ING branding as per usual on Thursday, the day before official practice for the weekend's Singapore Grand Prix begins.
Like Mutua Madrilena, ING had previously decided not to stay in Formula One beyond 2009.

USF1 announces F2000 as feeder series
24 September 2009
USF1 team chiefs Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor have announced that the Formula 2000 series is now one of the Charlotte outfit's official 'feeder' championship as it prepares for its first season in Formula One next year. American Anderson represents the squad as Team Principal whereas Australia-born Windsor holds the role of Sporting Director.
As the team continues to ponder over its drivers - one highly likely to be American - ahead of 2010, the two men released the following statement:
'On behalf of the USF1 Team we would like to congratulate everyone involved in F2000 in the United States. One of our goals is to take American drivers back into Formula One, and then to produce the next American F1 World Champion - and it is because of series like F2000 that we feel confident that we can do this.'
Peter Windsor is currently interviewer for FOM's official press conferences

The messages goes on to list Joel Miller, Patrick Barrett and JR Hildebrand as three F2000 'stars' who could be F1 drivers of the future before revealing the team's intentions to use the formula as a scouting championship.
'The USF1 Team is therefore delighted to announce that it endorses the F2000 championship as one of its official "feeder" series. For too long the path to F1 for young American drivers has been clouded by a lack of respect for single-seater racing and for those talented drivers who lack the financial wherewithal to take the expensive route to the top.
Jeremy Shaw's Team USA has done - and will continue to do - a fantastic job of encouraging new talent; we look forward now to working with both Team USA and F2000 towards the new frontier.'

True, but that is also when it cost so much less to supply what was basically a spec engine. Plus there were no rules about how many teams a supplier could supply. As it sits now, I believe the supplier can supply 3 teams, and with BMW and Honda gone, and Mercedes already at 2...

Both KERS and V10s are good news... i don't get what you mean.
I know it is V8s now but it was great with V10s. Another good rule change was to remove the traction control.
Generally there are quite a few good rule changes.

Yeah apparently the ramadan's over for him
I'm starting to appreciate his driving style anyway, especially in tracks where what counts is not just driver skills but also how the driver interprets the bad asphalt etc.

As for puppy driving yesterday both Vettel and Rosberg showed the signs of young eager drivers, and both got to pay for it.
In Rosbergs case he had it coming with karma. Last year he also got a drive through for pitting when it was forbidden (safety car). However, the judges took too long to give him his drive through which gave him 10-15 laps to drive before taking his drive through. In those laps he managed to stretch out the distance to the car behind him and retain his position (behind Alonso). And that was the sole reason he managed to get 2nd place last year. This year karma came to collect apparently.

lmao some one give vettel some tissues please, the golden boy seems to be down
i dont know any driver who does things on purpose (besides Piquet lol)
Stewards at the Singapore grand prix on Sunday confirmed that Sebastian Vettel broke the pitlane speed limit by just 1.4kmh during the race.
The Red Bull driver and championship challenger was at the time challenging the lead of Lewis Hamilton's McLaren, but after serving a drive-through penalty he finished fourth with a mountain to climb to now win the title.
Vettel, 22, said he did not consciously surpass the 100kmh pitlane limit and was surprised when told by radio that he had breached the rules."From my point of view, I wasn't in a rush and therefore I can't really explain why I got caught -- we'll have to check if it's maybe an electronic issue, but (the speed limiter) was working before and afterwards so it's difficult to say.
"There's a bit of a question mark there," the German added.

Bernie Ecclestone actively voted against Flavio Briatore receiving his lifetime ban from involvement in motor sport at the recent crash-gate hearing of the World Motor Sport Council.
When the F1 chief subsequently arrived in Singapore from the Paris meeting, he suggested that "on reflection" he believed the FIA sanction against his friend and business partner had been too harsh.
"I was on the commission so I am probably just as guilty as anyone else. On reflection it wasn't necessary," said the Briton, whose stance was interpreted as condoning cheating and slammed by the F1 owner CVC's director Sir Martin Sorrell.
During an interview with London's Evening Standard newspaper, FIA president Max Mosley revealed that the 78-year-old billionaire actually voted against Briatore's lifetime ban.
"The council did not vote unanimously," he said. "A substantial majority were in favour of punishing Briatore but Bernie was in a minority."

The end of KERS for now
The Formula 1 teams met on Sunday in Singapore and it seems that they have finally agreed that they will not be using KERS in 2010, although they want to leave open the possibility that there will be energy-recovery systems in F1 in the future, as these are useful for the automobile manufacturers, both in terms of technology and publicity. The Formula One Teams' Association was opposed to KERS in 2010 but Williams F1 was holding out as it wishes to develop the exciting flywheel version of the technology. The fact that Williams has agreed to a ban on KERS suggests that the team is not yet ready with its own system, although it has also had a parallel electrical system under development. KERS has proved to be an advantage for McLaren, Ferrari and Renault this year but other teams have struggled to make their cars competitive.

Expect an official announcement about Alonso's move to Ferrari either tomorrow or Thursday.
