I agree. He did well for it being his first F1 race. I have a problem hearing his name and not thinking about the Star Trek reference.

Trulli and McLaren fined, Raikkonen with sore eyes

Jarno Trulli has been fined $10,000 and officially reprimanded for his behaviour after a first-lap incident with Adrian Sutil at Interlagos on Sunday.

The Italian crashed at the start of the Brazilian Grand Prix after losing control of his Toyota whilst trying to pass Sutil's Force India.

Trulli, 35, was seen running from the site of his crash to German Sutil's similarly stricken car, before the pair almost came to blows.

The stewards ruled that the clash had been a "racing incident", but took a dim view of veteran Trulli ignoring marshals' instructions to leave the track and instead "aggressively confronting" Sutil.

Said Sutil: "Jarno was furious and said it was my mistake but I just told him what had happened to me."

Also fined after the Brazilian Grand Prix was McLaren, who must pay a $50,000 penalty for unsafely releasing Heikki Kovalainen with his fuel hose still attached during a pitstop.

Kovalainen was also given a 25 second race time penalty, but the Finn did not finish in the points.

Driving behind the McLaren at the time was Kimi Raikkonen, whose Ferrari was splashed with fuel and briefly engulfed in flames.

"I ended up with some drops of petrol in my eyes and even now they are still burning, but I'm alright," he said.

Did not watch the race, seen results...
Great to see Webber win another race...his best year to date.
As I have said he has the talent just needs reliability and luck.

Congrats to the flying Jensen and Brawn GP, in their first year.

Alfy would know this...
Has an F1 team ever won both titles in their first debut year before?...in modern F1?

So what and who will be "THE" teams/drivers to watch out for next year?

So ASH8, no one can have bad luck forever. This time it was Vettel who had bad luck and didn't make it out of Q1 because of hydroplaning.

As for dangerous drivers next year? I would watch for Alonso in a red car. Some gut feeling tells me that he will be dangerous. I also believe he will be chased by two silver arrows with Raikkonen and Hamilton at the wheels. Massa will have to play catch-up the first few races until he gets his race pace back.

Brawn will probably continue where they are right now, that is staying in the points. But I don't see them dominating next season. Red Bull might very well be strong next season too but like Brawn I think we will have them in the points but not always on the podium.

I think I know. Since this was addressed to him, I will wait for Alfy to answer first.

Ferrari & McLaren will be back for next year. Red Bull & Renault will be in the next tier. Toyoda will withdraw and a spot will be made for the Lotus team.

Webber..
"Obviously we weren't good enough over the whole season to win any championships but we've done ourselves very proud as a team, as a unit. I would like to thank Renault as well, the engines have been very good. It's not an easy environment for them, so yeah, very, very good.

“It's been a special weekend for Australians because Jason Crump won the World Speedway Championship last night; he’s a very close friend of mine, and he won under very difficult conditions as he was badly injured a few weeks ago, and Casey (Stoner) won the motorbikes yesterday, so it's been a great weekend for the Australians.”

Oi Oi Oi !

Mazda

Personally i think brawn will do good next year. but i feel that, ferrari and mclaren will be at the top again. reason is, they spent so much time on their 08 car, that the 09 was lacking at the begining of the season. But that was due to them being, hmm cocky is a strong word, i guess over confident.

So 09 brought those 2 teams back to earth, and taught them a lesson. now that they pretty much know what they are dealing with for 10 car, i feel they have nothing to worry about.

I feel brawn got really lucky this season. Since they where working very closely to FIA on the defuser etc. Also even though i like jensen, i feel he won races due to ferrari and mclaren not getting their shixt together.

As for ruben, he just proved to me that he was the driver who was very consitent with podium finishes.

Hamilton and hopefully Kimi will make a exciting year going up against the girls from ferrari.

the only thing that worries me for 2010, is mercedes wanting to X out mclaren and go over to brawn. But i do feel that they will do ok, since Mcarlen does the designs of the car. ONly thing that may hamper mclaren is the finacial backing from mercedes. But at the same time, i think its going to be cool. If mclaren owns brawn/mercedes, its going to be a MSpaint fest for me

Close to tears as his 2009 championship challenge ended, Sebastian Vettel admitted that mistakes marred his push for formula one's biggest prize.

Even an impressive run through the field from 16th to fourth at Interlagos - ahead of the new world champion Jenson Button - could not keep the 22-year-old in the fight as the sport presses ahead to its Abu Dhabi finale in two weeks.

"The bottom line is that there were too many races that were not good enough," the German told Auto Motor und Sport, while other reports stated that Vettel was wiping away the odd tear as he spoke immediately after the race in Brazil.

"We were not consistent enough. There have been mistakes, I have made mistakes, when there shouldn't have been.

"We still have a lot to learn, but this year has been very, very good for us and I think we can get even better," Vettel added.

However, Vettel's race at Interlagos actually leapfrogged him two points ahead of Rubens Barrichello for second in the championship.

But the German said he will not be spending much time before the Abu Dhabi finale in two weeks wondering how he will secure the runner-up result.

"We didn't win and I don't care if I'm second or third. Second is the first loser," he is quoted as saying by Germany's sport1.de.

I like Vettel.
Alfy, we must find a way to keep in touch 'till the 2010 thread opens now that the championship is practically over!

Bernies needs to STFU.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/10910192...f1--ecclestone

After enraging the world with his remarks about Hitler earlier this year, Bernie Ecclestone is once again making headlines for the wrong reasons.

Sections of the international media are reporting disbelief at the F1 chief executive's latest controversial comments about the late triple world champion Ayrton Senna.

After greeting Senna's sister Viviane and her son Bruno in the Interlagos paddock at the weekend, the 78-year-old was quoted as saying the Brazilian's death during the 1994 world championship was ultimately "good for F1".

"He was unfortunate," Ecclestone told the local Folha de S.Paulo newspaper, "but the publicity generated by his death was so much ... it was good for F1.

"It was a shame that we had to lose Ayrton, but it happened. He was very popular, but the actual event interested so many people who did not know about the sport," he added.

Sure He Was

Button celebrated title alone in hotel

Despite his description by some as the "playboy world champion", Jenson Button did not celebrate wildly after securing the 2009 title in Brazil on Sunday.

The Briton had been scheduled to return to Europe on Sunday evening for a PR commitment, but his Brawn teammate Rubens Barrichello offered the use of his private jet so that he could stay another night in Sao Paulo.

But it emerges that Button, 29, stayed less than an hour at the team's party before returning to his hotel.

"I wanted a bit of alone time," he told British reporters, drinking a glass of white wine and wearing a t-shirt that read 'What goes around, comes around'.

"We all celebrate it in different ways, and for me to just chill on my own was the best thing for me. I was on the phone to my girlfriend, my family as well, my mum, so I was up until about 4am just lying in bed with a big grin on my face," said Button.

He also responded to reports that he is locked in a dispute with Brawn bosses over the size of his 2010 retainer, despite chief executive Nick Fry saying the Briton is very likely to stay with the Brackley based team.

"I don't know what's going to happen in the future, and at the moment I don't care because I'm not thinking about it," said Button.

More likely he has 6 Brazilian hookers in bed with him. Thats what put the smile on his face.

is there a rivalry? Lamborghinis are seen as happy hour cars, which they are
they have completely different philosphies behind them, the audis are have got bigger engines and weights in general while fiats still have a lotus-like chassis.

That guy is so disrespectful and tactless it is painful. Yes we all know the power of martyrdom (which this can be compared with), but still have some respect for the dead and for the fans of Senna.

Well he is so old now he does not have many years left. He is a problem that will solve itself given a bit of time... and then he can get his *** handed to him on the local heaven race track by Senna himself.
