If the rules hadn't changed regarding front tire sizes would Lewis and Michael do better due to more aggressive late braking vs tire degradation (I'm not as interested in watching so tactical of a tire maintenance game vs drivers out driving each other). Kubica is proven talent and Vettel has shown over and over again that he can get the job done and makes a few mistakes like everyone else. Massa is obviously above average. Rosberg is showing his talent as is Webber. Michael has lost a step but I will not count him out as he learns the modern cars. Kovaleinen is obviously not as good as Hamilton. Rubens still has it and can win in a competitive chassis but he's not THE best driver in the bunch. Petrov and Kobayahi are diamonds in the rough with Petrov really needing to keep it together, relax and concentrate (Hard to do). I think Button is quite good to excellent but can be beaten by quite a few drivers depending on circumstance. BTW, the Red Bull chassis is amazing although a little fragile perhaps.

My 2 cents.

Paul.
That was a really good post maz. To be honest, I miss the days of multiple pit stop strats. I am really hoping that next year they will change rule on the refill ban. It not allowing drivers to push their hardest, its moving away from what F1 was about.

That was a very unorthodox move at the end from Schumacher. Really cool if it was legal. I think it was legal but the race stewards are going to look at the replays.

Apparently the pass was not legal. It was fully legal according to last year regulations. However, a new rule has been added and it has now been clarified.

More here: http://en.espnf1.com/monaco/motorsport/story/17477.html

The new rule - 40.13 - states: "If the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pitlane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking."

Alonso and Ferrari had it together for this race. Everything was done to get their best possible finish.

This one wasn't. The things that made this race interesting was a great driver starting last (hence overtaking even at Monaco), blown engines, crashes & pretty good camera work.

I just saw a news report, Schumacher got a 20 second penalty for the Alonso pass. This moves him from 6th to 12th place.
Under rule 40.13, which states that "if the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pitlane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking,"
Normally this would be a stop & go type of penalty. However, since it was at the end of the race, a time penalty was accessed.

There is no word about penalties for Barrichello.

Apparently, you and Michael don't like following the rules. In my previous post, I posted the rule that was violated.

Besides since this rule only applies when the safety car goes back in on the last lap I have a hard time seeing how this would ever incur a stop & go

And yes I love picking on you, Aln

Oh and Mercedes obviously appeals.

It was a brilliant drive from Mark the last two races. But really I think Vettel will own him again soon enough. We will see how this turns out...

Mark is very talented and the Red Bull is quick but reliability is something that requires more time to provide a proper assessment.
