Bwahahaha
That was much more entertaining that I thought it would be. 1. Compare & contrast: One of Button's mechanics fucked up by leaving something on the car that should've been taken off - causing the car to overheat. Jenson's response was very calm and diplomatic despite knowing that he was going to lose many places in the championship. Meanwhile, one of Hamilton's machanics told him over the radio that the brakes were wearing down too quickly, and his reponse was "WTF? We're not at half distance! Do you want me to race these guys or not?" Ya whatever... all he said was they were wearing faster than they should be, i.e. perhaps if Hamilton drove a little more smoothly... 2. Schumacher is back... back up to the tricks he enjoyed playing in 1997. Does anyone remember his final standing in the championship that year? I joked with my wife that the stewards might decide to impose a time penalty on him. It was funny because normally 20 seconds on a race time wouldn't make too much of a difference, but with the safety car bunching the field up... bad luck Michael, you have to blame your final position on your karma. |
Awesome... plain awesome!!
So,
I just finished watching the race.. I usually don't watch qulifying but I did on Saturday and what disappointment... Needless to say, I turned the TV off even before qualifying started... but for the race... damn... I enjoyed the whole 2 hours!! (I always tivo my races and I fast FWD when they are boring but not this one). This definitely proves Alonso is the BEST driver in F1 now... What awesome race and I loved how the camera men followed Alonso in all his passes... Funny how they "forgot" about the front runners and instead concentrated in watching a MASTER doing what he does best... Bravo Alonso Bravo... excelente carrera! :) On the other hand: 1) MS is back to his old tricks... They were too nice with him.. They should have penalized him 10 spots next race! Jerk! 2) The typical "cry baby" is back again... Damn... When will he act like a Man? He is having one of the dream jobs that anybody could wish for... but nope, he has to complain... bwa bwa... my brakes... my tires..."it was his fault - not mine"... bwa... Grow up you spoiled brat... and I am sure WE ALL know who I am talking about... right Alfy? 3) Great to see Webber and Kubica up front... Well deserved. Now I am going to bed... lol Carlos |

As for Alonso being best? It was the safetycar that pulled him up so far. Just like in Singapore ;) Seriously all Alonso did was pass the weakest cars in the field, the very cars you have been bashing that they don't belong in F1. Those he passed and after that he maintained his HARD bridgestones that have been criticized for lasting too long. This proves absolutely nothing, except that safetycars can turn a straightforward race upside down.

And to suggest 10 spot penalty next race, why would it ever be that? Seriously Polo. |

He is aggressive when he has to, conservative where he needs to be and now is mature enough not to sound like a ****head when speaking. Hamilton is a great performer but is not a complete driver yet. It took some years for webber to become a top tier and a complete driver so I can only imagine what will Hamilton do in a 3 or 4 years but for now he still feels like the champion that wins because of his skill and loses because of his team. Alonso used to be like that and i just hated him. What about Massa? Great start and great driver but most of all a great person! Vettel is the driver of the future imho and Kubica has got talent but we already knew that :) |
Yeah, I like Massa...I feel he is a bit underated. On a side note, did anyone catch the pre-race interview with Jean Todt? The guy asked him who he picked to win. At that moment I cringed a little bit, he's the president of the FIA and supposed to be impartial, so for him to just come right out and say who he sees winning would be a little bit innappropriate. Anyway, he said something to the effect of, whomever wins is a worthy winner. I applaud his diplomacy...everyone thought he would be in Ferrari's pocket...it appears he really can be impartial. Unlike the last guy, he probably would have said, "I don't care who it is as long as it's not McLaren, hahahahahahaha

You guys are funny!!
This time I need to give it to you guys... I am sure if it was Hamilton who did what Alonso did in Monaco, although there is no way he could do this, you guys will be all over saying how a "God sent" he is ...
Call him this or whatever but I will have to say... You guys are full of bullshit!! There you have it... Passing the way Alonso was passing requires great skills... I don't disagree that he took advantage of the safety car... Mmmm let me think, maybe the guy crashed in the tunnel in purpose so Alonso can gain some positions... You guys are so dilusional, it's not even funny anymore. And once again, remember this post, Hamilton is going NOWHERE this year... I hope he wins a race soon so YOU crybabies can be more positive.. It'll do you good, really... Very dissapointed by some of the comments... When you see a great one, admit that, like I have... but I forgot, it requires "balls" to do that... Carlos |

Well said. I have, in the past, shown here that I was an Alonso hater. This has changed for this year. He has matured in mainly his attitude, but also his driving abilities. He put himself in a position, where when the safety car came out, that he could move up. Who else out there did that? It is conceivable that I actually may start liking the guy.
Welcome to the club! I knew you were too smart not to be an Alonso fan. ":beer05: Carlos |

This proves absolutely nothing, except that safetycars can turn a straightforward race upside down. The pass would have been legal according to last years regulations. He was ordered by the pit wall to race and try to pass. It would have been legal if not for the new rule, you know the one we discussed a while back in the topic ;) And to suggest 10 spot penalty next race, why would it ever be that? Seriously Polo. |
^ haha agreed
|
lol the slow teams should have pitted immediately like Alonso. That would have made for a REALLY interesting race.

I do agree with you guys on hamilton behavior lately. But I must not give up on him, I think he is under a lot of stress (which I don't understand) and in time he will be back to his norm. Which is stomping the shxxt out of Alonso.

DUH!!! :Like he did with Alonso? common, a spoiled brat will always be a spoiled brat :) He is so full of himself... I guess he believes he is the "Mesiah" according to Alfy... Live and learn... |

Live and learn... Now he's facing the reality of a pretty balanced series where he's not the leader he thought he was. He reminds me of jamarcus russel but I think that he will grow up. It's the only thing he can do since a team gets tired of hearing that's always his fault and not the driver's one! To me Hamilton looks just like the cornered baby that screams out loud, nothing more. This sucks because he's a very good driver and it's always fun to watch him with his aggressive style. |

Live and learn... I can understand Hamilton frustration, he is the type of driver that makes F1 exciting to watch. F1 was about overtaking and driving to the fullest and that is what we fans love to watch. Now its about conserveing your car the best that you can, which to me is making the series less exciting. We should be here talking about who can drive the car the best, instead of which driver is the best at conserving. Even though I understand hamiltons frustration (even MS) but the rules have changed, so he needs to get with the program (even if the program is making the series less exciting for me) and deal with it. He just needs to concentrate on driving instead of the politics. Btw I know conserving is part of racing, but it shouldnt be the main focus in F1, as it is today. |
Whoopie!!! I can't wait for Canadian GP!!! Sadly a 6 hour flight is the closest place to watch an F-1 race...when I was in Thailand thought about going to the Malaysian GP but ran outta money...damn go-go girls scammed all my money....lol

I am a bit in a curious spot when thinking about Alonso's drive. I will try to explain how I see it and see if you guys can help me get to a conclusion.
1. Safetycar incident, race strategist calls in Alonso immediately (which is the obvious strategy in that scenario for any trained F1 strategist) 2. Alonso is behind the new cars and overtaking them, still I find this pretty normal. It is quite a bit more hairy to do so in Monaco, but you have seen how these guys get passed on all the other tracks. They don't even have to lift of during blue flag, they are like road cones waiting to be passed. So still I see this like a normal drive from a driver of Alonso's caliber when he is driving a Ferrari. So here is where I am curious. On the first race opener there were a lot of criticism that the new tires lasted far too long and that the 1 stop strategy only was chosen due to regulations that you HAD to drive on both compounds. Some critics went so far to say that you could easily drive an entire race distance on the harder bridgestone compound. To Monaco bridgestone brought the soft (as optional) and hard (as prime) tires. Add that together and it should be easy to drive the entire distance on one set of hard tires. But when watching the replay of Schumacher's overtake on Alonso, which was masterful by the way, you see Alonso fishtailing TWICE. It is actually Alonso's mistake that open up for Schumacher to pass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k-M7_kazHo Look for yourselves and see the fishtail out of both turns when he gives gas. I can see three reasons for this. 1. His tires are really worn down because he has hammered them as hell. 2. His tires are really worn down because the hard bridgestones are not as tough as critics said in the beginning of the year. I would love to see if anyone finds a statement from Bridgestone about Alonso's drive on one set of rubbers the entire distance. 3. His tires were cold because he did not dare/could not maintain same tire temperature after safety car due to tire wear. As said this is speculation and it all boils down to how hard the hard bridgestones are. But the most impressive part of Alonso's drive was clearly to make his tires last. I am just uncertain how impressive it was. It is hard to tell really. And Polo, if you are disappointed with our comment, then you should perhaps not start the comments by saying that this is definitive proof that Alonso is the best. I for one do not share that view. I know he is top 5-6 in F1, but I don't find that tire management alone is proof of him being the best. As for Schumachers pass: Apparently most teams had given orders to their drivers to race to the flag after safety car. It was an ambigous rule. FIA has admitted that and are going to revise the rule, and hence Mercedes does not bother with appealing. Appealing most likely would fail since you cannot appeal a drive-through, and thus the appeal process is a worthless tool when revising rules that gives drive-through. Fortunately FIA admitted that this rule needed revision so no appeal was necessary. So Polo, instead of directly calling people Jerks just because he overtook your favorite drive, try to be a bit understanding. Read more about it here (including an official Mercedes statement): http://www.formula1.com/news/headlin...0/5/10807.html |
Here is more on FIA admitting that they will rework the rule:
