Oh and I will really get to eat those words if Alonso does win tomorrow ;)

bse50 05-29-2010 11:51 AM

rofl!
Vettel won't have to pass Hamilton since he is still prone to making mistakes while under close pressure imho. Interesting race tomorrow, that's for sure!

Mazmart 05-29-2010 12:27 PM

The start of the race will be very exciting. I know that Lewis will want to take the lead into the first corner. I also know that Mark doesn't like to give up real estate either. Great action and I'm looking forward to it. I hope they don't take each other out, leaving Jenson and Seb to rule in Istanbul.

Lewis is starting from the "dirty" side though. I believe he mostly has to defend against Vettel in the first corner and then try to keep up with Webber as much as possible for an attack on the straight on the next lap.

Although Webber will most likely outpace Hamilton like hell in sector 2. We will see, the first few laps should get hot.

oh my... where is alonso?

there you are! P12! lol

PerSmitt 05-30-2010 08:11 AM

THAT MUST NOT HAPPEN!

Technically the collision was Vettel's fault, but still Webber could have avoided it too.

PerSmitt 05-30-2010 08:34 AM

An excellent pass from Alonso when passing Petrov. It was harsh and unfortunately Petrov got a flat tire, but still inspired driving.

But the most inspired driving was from the McLaren cars. Hamilton's hunt through the race and Hamilton vs Button in the end of the race. THAT is racing!

Ferrari? What is a Ferrari? Racing cars are called Red Bull and McLaren!

I am extatic after such an exciting race. Quite the opposite to boring Monaco.

The Reverend 05-30-2010 12:32 PM

wow Webber was so mad in the interview

...and I saw that little smile from Lewis after Webber stopped talking lol

bse50 05-30-2010 12:53 PM

Great race and great driving from button and hamilton!
Vettel has gott balls bust still need to learn how to be cold, pretty much like hamilton was in his first years.
McLaren didn't deserve a 1-2 finish but this is racing and i'm glad to see so many competitors for this year's title!

Have seen the incident between Webber and Vettel a few times, but not the Webber Interview.

The 'pass' from Vettel on Webber was both malicious, dangerous, intentional and outrageous, you just can't do that..and they are Team mates!

Incredible driving by Webber to get back to finish 3rd, I bet you know there will never be any future pleasantries between the two Red Bull guys..that has been destroyed.

And IMO Vetttel has just lost most/any respect he had with other teams.

Would not be surprised to see "official" action over this incident.

WHAT!!!..are you Blind....Webber was minding his own Business HAD the RACING LINE and Vettel Sharply Jabbed his steering wheel turning into Webber " in a passing move...but VESSEL was not even close to passing"...OUTRAGEOUS!;)

Not even Aytron Senna was that STUPID, and Pissel will NEVER match Senna's Brilliance.

bse50 05-30-2010 05:39 PM

Vettel admitted while being interviewed by the italian television that he did a mistake while concentrating on the braking point.
Something that had to do with the steering maneuvre that lead to him jamming the aussie :)
He's still a young guy and is trying hard to stay on top. I do agree that an experienced driver should not risk this much (safety wise) but in the end it's racing!

No you are wrong on all accounts there. It was a bold move that went awry. It happens, get over it.

What was so incredible about the drive? Are you referring to before or after the crash. Before the crash, yes to get such a lead on Schumacher. After the crash he just drove into the pits, got a new nose cone and new tires (i think) and was never threatened. There was nothing spectacular about his drive after the crash.

Good thing the other teams and drivers are a bit more sensible than you. It was a race incident.

Uhm, no. Seriously you should learn to calm down...

It is quite possible Vettel did not even notice he turned the steering wheel. He was past Webber and focused on the breaking point. You know it would never have happened if Webber hadn't been driving like a slow sauce up ahead like he did at that time. Vettel had been outclassing Webber the last 5 minutes on the track up to the passing point.

Oh and it is also possible Vettel thought Webber would take out height for the turn and thought there was enough room to move a bit to the right.

What you can ask yourself is: Do you think Vettel crashed on purpose when he had every chance to get passed his team mate? Vettel had the inner line, he was ahead, victory was his and then this accident happened.

You don't know me at all do you..you turnip puller..;)

Umm..

Anway..First Vettel Was NOT past Webber as HIS rear Tyre Ran into the Side (Approx Webber back rest location).

Vettel actually Turned Into (right) of Webber to Crash into him when a Left hand Sweep was immediately ahead?? why..He was NOT even past Webber.
He obviously thought he was...

Webber was leading after 30 odd laps, with 17 to go Webber kept his racing line..why should he yield, as I said Vettel was not clear of him.?

Yes, Vettel had a try for the lead, it did not work, it shows his INEXPERIENCE as a Racing Driver....simple.

IMO he was reckless, and most motoring experts and commentators believe he should apologise to his team mate.

Ok, I was unclear. When you are half a car length ahead you are considered to have passed an opponent. He was more ahead than that since his rear touched Webber's front tire. So in racing terms he was ahead but not completely past, granted.

He should yield because he was driving too slow. He should give enough room for a teammate because the consequences to the own team is too great if there is a collision.

Vettel had to drive that fast and try to pass otherwise he would be passed by Hamilton. This is verified by Red Bull: http://www.formula1.com/news/intervi...0/5/10855.html

It also shows that Mark Webber made the wrong choice and not give room despite his experience.

Agreed, Vettel should apologize because he was the one who drove into Webber. But Webber should also be fully criticized for not having prevented the collision. It takes two cars to crash like that and Webber was driving one of them and SHOULD have had the experience to realize that such action could end with disaster, which it did.

Red Bull will be very firm with its two drivers now and tell them in no uncertain terms that it was both their faults and that it SHALL NOT happen again in the future. I wouldn't want to be either Vettel or Webber in that debriefing.

Mazmart 05-31-2010 08:52 AM

Sporting rivalries often cause unnecessary discord amongst good mates (Friends). It was a decent race with a fair amount of action. Vettel deserves the criticism due to a decision that showed poor judgement on more than one level including not thinking about his team. This may be remembered as the critical point in why neither of them becomes world champion this year.

Here's a perspective you won't hear elswhere: Are the McLarens in fact not as close to the Red Bulls in performance? With the British boys having to conserve fuel at the end of the race, it makes you wonder; if the Red Bull incident hadn't taken place, would they have finished with a decent lead due to McLaren backing off? In other words, did the McLarens gamble with a slightly reduced fuel load in order to equal the speed?

Paul.

alfy28 06-01-2010 11:52 AM

LOL wonder if Ferrari is eating ther own words now

:smoker: At first I didnt like Ferrari bad mouthing the new teams, but now i am very happy that they did. Because looks Ferrari should learn to keep their mouth such and worry about their own team car. :cwm27:

On the occasion of Ferrari's 800th grand prix, Tony Fernandes made sure the Italian team's celebratory champagne tasted sour.

After proving the strongest of the three new teams in 2010, the Lotus team boss stared mockingly at the qualifying timesheets in Turkey and recalled the pre-season words of Luca di Montezemolo.

The Ferrari president had derided the new teams, accusing them of reducing F1 to little more than a glorified junior series.

But Lotus is now closing on the tail of the established teams, including Force India whose Tonio Liuzzi was just 1.2 seconds clear of Jarno Trulli at Istanbul Park.

And "The team who has done 7 races (is) 2.4 seconds slower than the team who has done 800 races. Wonder if Luca still thinks we are rubbish," Fernandes wrote on his Twitter.

Ferrari began the season with one of the favoured cars, but a worried Fernando Alonso said in Turkey that the F10 is now "far behind" Red Bull and McLaren, outpaced by Mercedes and at risk of falling away from his old team Renault.

"We need to roll our sleeves up even higher," team boss Stefano Domenicali told Finland's Turun Sanomat after Alonso suggested the car has not been developed quickly enough.

"In Valencia we will have a strongly updated package," he promised.

Webber was already down in fuel saving mode so if the McLaren had to back off then I think Red Bull would back off pretty soon after.

After all the McLaren pace was not slower than Webber after the accident. But I am afraid we will never know just how bad it was with fuel.

Red Bull is working to resolve their internal conflict: http://en.espnf1.com/redbull/motorsp...ory/19097.html

McLaren are also trying mental games to get the upper hand on Red Bull.
And Lewis Hamilton took a dig at Webber and Vettel by pointing out that he and Button did not collide when they similarly diced for position in Turkey. "That's why we are world champions. I am proud to have him [Button] as my teammate."

http://en.espnf1.com/redbull/motorsp...ory/19056.html

This season is just getting better and better!
