It could very well come to pass that the Japanese F1 is cancelled but for now its local speculation.

So I guess someone out there in TV land corrected our Network 9 Channel.
Guess work again from reporters making up stories rather than reporting FACTS!!...
Apologies to ALL that I worried, my intentions were to upset!..

It would also be insane not to remember that Schumacher is a 7 time world champion. Everyone laughed at Alonso when he said Schumacher was the greatest threat this year. Calling him THE greatest threat might be a bit overdone but if the car is right he will be a threat indeed. Just look at the fastest time posted at the last practice.

FIA dictates new rules for the overtaking wing.
http://en.espnf1.com/australia/motor...ory/43958.html
If FIA has checked the time between two drivers at the entry of a turn (low speed) obviously they are tighter together distance wise since they have slowed down. My question is, does the time between two cars decrease too when entering a turn or is the time between them constant on a lap if we consider that both cars drive exactly the same.
I would think the time is constant between them but I am not certain.

The FIA has tweaked the moveable rear wing regulations ahead of the first race of the season to increase the chances of the new system boosting overtaking.
The area in which the wing can be deployed during races has been extended beyond the 600-metre zone originally penciled in to incorporate the entire pit-straight at the Albert Park circuit. If a driver is within one second of the car in front when he enters turn 14 he will then be able to activate his rear wing two turns later at the entrance of the final corner. In total the distance between the activation line and the first corner will be just under 860 metres.
The hope is that the reduction in drag will allow the chasing car to close the gap on the pit straight and attempt a passing move into the first corner. Both the timing line where the gap between the cars is monitored and the rear wing activation line will be marked on the circuit to give spectators a clearer idea of when the system can be used.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner told Speed.com: "I only found out today. It's a pain because it screws up our simulations and affects gear ratios."

The news reports prior to this weekend had McLaren in trouble. They seemed to indicate that Red Bull and Ferrari would be fighting for the pole. McLaren and Mercedes would be in the next tier. From practice 2, it now seems that McLaren is up to speed and any of these 4 teams have a chance at a pole. Also, Schumacher is back.
Massa, WTF?

I was awake for the whole session. Very good stuff. Button ended on top.
I predict an accident at the start and as others have stated, the Red Bulls will be hot in qualifying. Button is more likely to keep his nose clean than Hamilton at the start but if Lewis gets room tire management may be a factor in a potential podium. Tire change strategies will be more important than ever. I wish they had really robust tires and we could just get on with the business of out-driving one another though.
Paul.

A harder tire compound would do wonders to increase passing opportunities, than any of these tricks they are trying at the moment. It would highlight the drivers ability to out corner & brake another driver. And, it would reduce the marbles that greatly hinder off-line pass attempts.
BTW, If you want to watch Practice 1 & 3, that isn't televised by SpeedTV, go to their website to watch it via live streaming. I would be interested to know if you, outside of the US can see this also.
