No problem, Al! The coverage offered on BBC iPlayer isn't live either though. It still is delayed in case that is what you are talking about. I haven't watched Fox/SPEED's coverage of F1 in a long time, but if I remember correctly, Fox/SPEED have commercial breaks and BBC doesn't. Personally, David Hobbs' commenting on F1 gets under my skin.
Edit: I forgot to mention. If/when you are finished watching programs on BBC's iPlayer using a UK IP address, remember to go back to Options and select 'No proxy', otherwise you are unable to surf around on your browser while in 'manual proxy configuration'.

RX-8 modder in training
The switch is usually during July/August races from what i've seen last year. just those four July/August races, then it switches back to Speed channel.

I'm just happy the McLaren didn't turn out to be a flaming bag of poo. We'll see what the race pace looks like tomorrow.
Those bulls (holy flexing wings, Batman - still) sure do look scary. I maintain what I said before testing on another forum - Newey will win the title for them, regardless of driver skill.

Webber looked speechless during the post quali interview. The media also can be a bit harsh in asking "What happened out there?". Will he close the gap later in the season? This could be one of the more interesting aspects of the season.
Button is not fazed by his team mate beating him. He seems to pick himself up calmly with a smile and move on. Schumi looked pissed at not making Q3. Massa seems to need the most psychological help of all the top tier drivers when he's faltered.
Lewis did not do the best job of maintaining composure under pressure at the beginning of last season and was out of character in addressing his team on radio. His management switch from his father may have played a part in that.
Alonso NEVER wants a team mate to outrun him and will take all measures to reverse that scenario and we have seen what a clown Vettel can make of himself when the fight is overly tough.
My quick assessment of some of my favourite drivers under pressure.
Paul.

Newey's on a league of his own. So are the team working on their carbon fiber layering process. That wing was flexing like crazy, almost scraping the ground - yet managed to pass the more stringent testing introduced this year.
I wonder what Hamilton could have done with a floor that wasn't damaged. We'll see who El Gloomio uses as a scapegoat this time.

I fell asleep before the race, woke up at lap 3, caught the replay of the start, fell asleep, woke up 3 laps before the end of the race... soooooo what happened lol ?
Seriously I should have watch the rerun at 7am instead of watching it live.

Sergio Perez's dream result in the Australian Grand Prix has been lost after both Saubers were disqualified for a technical infringement.
The Mexican rookie had earned plaudits for a brilliant drive to seventh on his debut on a one-stop strategy, while his team-mate Kamui Kobayashi had finished eighth.
But during a technical inspection after the race it was found that the cars' rear wing elements contravened the regulations.
FIA officials were checking the concave radius of sections of the three rear wing elements that are in contact with the external air stream on several cars including the Saubers.
The Swiss cars were disqualified for breaching articles 3.10.1 and 3.10.2 of the technical regulations, which state that "the local concave radius of the curvature may not be smaller that 100mm.”
Though a technical breach of the rules, it is not thought that the Saubers gained a performance advantage from whatever was awry on the wing element.
Sauber have announced that they will appeal and technical director James Key admitted the stewards' decision had come as a shock.
"This is a very surprising and disappointing result," he said.
"It appears that there is a question over the top surface of the uppermost rear wing element, this area is not the working surface of the component and therefore relatively unimportant to its function.
"Certainly this has not led to any performance advantage.
"We are checking the design of the parts now to better understand the situation and we intend to appeal the decision made by the stewards.”
The disqualification moves Felipe Massa up to seventh for Ferrari, Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi into eighth, and means both Force Indias now score - with Adrian Sutil ninth and Paul di Resta getting a point on his Formula 1 debut in 10th

Go fast, do it again
Major props to Qantas Air for using a 747 for the fly by. If I was the pilot flying low and slow, I would have mashed full throttle on those 4 turbines as I fly over the pits.

Neither Webber or Vettel had KERS working for the race....
“I didn’t have KERS on my car all weekend,” says Mark. “Seb ran it during Friday practice, but the team took the decision not to race it on either car. We’ll hone the system over the next couple of weeks and hope to use it in Malaysia.”
So with KERS on and working, HOW MUCH faster will Red-Bull be..??
The REAL issue for Webber was Tyres (Tires), Webber was using the Hard Compound, Vettel was not, so there is the extra pit stop and issues of Tyres going off very early in race.
YES, during qualifying they use the same tyres, so "why" wasn't Webber given the "luxury" of using the same tyres as his team mate, after all this is HIS home GP.??
“The telemetry after the race gave us a few pointers, but we really need to strip the car down to see if there was something seriously wrong. I won’t be lining myself up for races like the one I’ve just had every weekend.”
“I’m pretty self-critical,” he says, “and at Albert Park I was a long way off getting the result that the car was capable of. I’m expecting the tyre situation to be very different in Malaysia and I expect to take a step forward.”

Well I think I would be PISSED at it also...
Is there some bad blood from last year with team mate??...no I don't think so, Mark is not like that...
One would THINK you would have equal cars, being Red-BS..
I just don't get it why hard compounds were used on Webber's?..particularly when the track was cool.

Alonso: Seb was on another planet
Fernando Alonso is content with his fourth-place finish in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, saying it's not "such a bad result".
Ferrari lacked pace the whole weekend and they were unable to match Red Bull and McLaren on Sunday as Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton claimed the first two places with Renault's Vitaly Petrov third. However, Alonso still managed to finish ahead of Mark Webber and Jenson Button.
"If you just look at the classification, this is not such a bad result; yes we have lost ground to Vettel and Hamilton, although we have done better than Webber and Button," he said.
"Here at Albert Park, it seems that I have a season ticket for fourth place, as it's the third time in four years that I've finished the race in this position. Last year, we came here off the back of the win in Bahrain, which means that the same result then had a very different feel to it.
"Once again today, Vettel seemed to be on another planet, while the others were a bit closer, not to the extent they were on Friday, but at least not as far off as in qualifying yesterday."
It was almost a repeat of the final race of the 2010 season for Alonso as he found himself stuck behind Petrov. The Spaniard though was quick to point out that it wasn't such a big deal as Petrov is unlikely to challenge for honours.
"Finishing behind [Vitaly] Petrov again like in Abu Dhabi? True, but it's a coincidence and then, at this stage it is more satisfying to have managed to keep Webber behind me, who I reckon will be a more serious rival in the title fight than the Russian."
The new adjustable rear wing and KERS provided two of the major talking points in Australia.
"KERS worked well as did the moveable rear wing, although it did not make the overtaking moves that easy," he said. "At the start there was a bit of confusion: I got away well, but then Button headed for me and I had to go wide to avoid a collision. The strategy was just right and it helped me to make up some places.
"Maybe if I hadn't ended up immediately in traffic, I could have tried to go for two stops but given how things went, we made the best decision. We are in the right zone for us to be able to win a title, but definitely not if we keep finishing third or fourth. We have to improve, we know that, but it's still too early to make any predictions."

You do know that Vettel ran with the hard tires in his last stint, right? There is a rule saying you must have raced on both compounds.
The difference in speed during qualifier AND race between Webber and Vettel is very simple. Vettel had managed to make a better setup and squeeze all the performance out of the car. Webber just wasn't very good this weekend.
