Deconstructing Lewis Hamilton v Felipe Massa crash

THE inaugural Indian Grand Prix was won, with a sense of inevitably, by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and, as usual, McLaren's Jenson Button, who came second, was the driver who offered the biggest challenge to the World Champion.
But once again the real drama came further down the field and the result was overshadowed by yet another prang involving between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. The two drivers have now collided a remarkable six times this season.

Deconstructing Lewis Hamilton v Felipe Massa crash
There are signs that the worst of Lewis Hamilton's crisis in form has passed - despite yet another collision with Ferrari's Felipe Massa in an otherwise lacklustre Indian Grand Prix.
Six times now the two men have clashed this year: at Monaco in both practice and race, in Singapore qualifying and race, in Japan and now in India. Hamilton and Massa do seem to be magnetically attracted.
Massa is not the only driver Hamilton has come together with this year - Williams's Pastor Maldonado and his own McLaren team-mate Jenson Button can be added to the list.
But if the previous incidents seemed to betray a certain lack of judgement for Hamilton, Sunday's collision would appear to be a much more straightforward racing incident.
In fact, Massa ended up with the drive-through penalty on this occasion, even if not everyone agreed this was a just outcome. Some felt it was Hamilton's fault, others that it was simply hard racing.

...And we call old school drivers fights "drama".
Villeneuve and Arnoux would disagree. Senna would, too.
Prost? Mansell?
What's wrong with sports lately? F1, a bunch of stupid calls in NFL. Soon they will sedate bulls before bull riding events!

I know but 24 cars are too many already, especially with the stupid slow teams being always in the way.
Think about tracks like monaco etc, it becomes dangerous.
Moreover F1 should be the sport of excellence but we have teams still struggling to make it within the 107% rule after 2 seasons. Said teams should be removed from the grid or a rule should be made to give them a 3 season span to get up on par with mid class cars...

Williams in talks with Raikkonen over F1 return

I doubt it, but here it is anyway.
'If F1 still wants Ferrari it must change' - Montezemolo

Some of you will say good riddance. But, Ferrari has such a large fan base (e.g. people that buy race tickets) that the FIA & Ecclestone will listen.

In a sense he is right even though i bash ferrari, there wouldn't be a team for me to bash on. Then his comment also sounds like he saying, let F1 be like it was three years ago or was it four, where throwing money around made ferrari fast (also mclaren). yah I don't like the changes that have been made for testing etc, but it's really pushed teams to work hard to make good cars, then rely on money to make the team, like Ferrari and Mclaren has done in the past (yes i said mclaren).
Who would of thought that RB would be leading the constructors standings two years ago? not me that is for sure.
SIGH cant post till hamilton wins again. Guess ill be stuck at 4999 for a while or on the last race , which ever comes first.

HAHA! I've never seen that Schumi clip, I wish i had been bit by the F1 bug early enough to witness his reign. I've only been a rabid fan since early 2008 (basically i caught on after i saw the Lewis Hamilton interview on TopGear) I don't know about the rest of you but I'm hoping to see Jenson Button finish this season with a strong second(first loser i know) I think he's driven his best this year. Any thoughts?

No agreement yet - Raikkonen
more at: http://en.espnf1.com/williams/motors...ory/63750.html
I follow WRC too. He hasn't placed to well in that championship. He may be looking for a comeback in F1. I think he has been out too long and the learning curve is too high. He has been out longer than Schumi was.
Kimi Raikkonen says he has not got an agreement in place with Williams, but admits he has been negotiating with the team over a potential return to Formula One.
Rumours linking Raikkonen with a return to the sport he left in 2009 had been growing until Williams shareholder Toto Wolff confirmed that talks were taking place. At the time Wolff said Raikkonen was one of a number of options, and Raikkonen has confirmed he had spoken to the team but said he was still undecided on what he would do next season.

In WRC he was a bust.
It's true that he has been away longer than MS but he's also much younger. The real problem is the steep decline that every finnish driver suffers... just like hakkinen lol.
@Nathan Atkins: Stay away from Mclaughlin and its drivers. They are evil. Black and silver? scary colours... just go for the awesome rosso corsa

Bahrain safe to host next year's GP, says Crown Prince
But, more importantly.....
more at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/form...e/15705826.stm
I think Bernie got his NY race that he so craved. Now, he doesn't care about Texas. In fact, it creates problems for him because a country has 2 GP (even if it is as big as the US and the races are 2000 miles a part).
Bahrain's Crown Prince has insisted the Gulf state will be able to hold its grand prix next season.
Bahrain has been given a date of 22 April to return to the calendar in 2012 after civil unrest in the country led to last year's event being cancelled.

But F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has cast doubt on the new race in Austin, Texas.
"Austin? I wouldn't want to put my money down that that will happen," said Ecclestone of the race scheduled to make its debut on 18 November next year.
"I hope it will and we are doing our best to make it happen, but I wouldn't want to say yes."

I'm against the NY race.
It makes no sense to implement new crappy tracks when there are so many readily available that are simply 10 times better.
The real cost involved is huge and the turnover minimal. Teams can't perform tests to save money... ok... yet they can travel to even more track with little audience?
I think that the cost of a week of testing is way less than that of a gp in korea, us etc.
It's not the time to expand, they should solidify what they already have.
I'm sick and tired of seeing money wasted on fake, soulless tracks.

Apparently we can't WASTE money but we can afford yearly useless tracks that cost over 100million dollars to implement? Way to go... Even lengthening willow springs would be smarter... or laguna seca...

The U.S. is an untapped revenue source for F1. Especially NY.
It's not about the sport for Burnie. It's about the money.
That thing sticking out in the Hudson River is Ellis Island where many of our ancestors were processed through before settling in the U.S. Just out of the picture is the Statue of Liberty. It should make for a good backdrop, but we are in it for the racing. Not pretty background pictures.

USA flagNov.13 (GMM) The Circuit of the Americas has hit back at Bernie Ecclestone’s claim that Texas might fall off the 2012 grand prix calendar.
“There is no question that if he wants the USGP race to happen here in 2012, it certainly will,” he said in a statement published by the local Austin American Statesman.
“Our funding is secured, and construction is on schedule, so we don’t understand Mr Ecclestone’s comments. He has expressed great interest in the Austin race and in expanding the F1 brand into the United States.”

Bernie Ecclestone thinks Ferrari's third car push unlikely to succeed
more at: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/96173
Sorry Ferrari, no soup for you.
Formula 1's leading outfits have failed in a push to try and expand staff numbers for next season, after a proposal to change the terms of the Resource Restriction Agreement was blocked by smaller outfits.
Bernie Ecclestone thinks Ferrari's third car push unlikely to succeed
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone thinks it unlikely that third cars will become a part of the sport, despite a fresh push by Ferrari for them to be allowed.
Sorry Ferrari, no soup for you.
