Alonso was fantastic.

I suspect that the McLarens will be very fast tomorrow in the dry but they are starting from further back on the grid. It will be an interesting race for sure.

Massa said that all cars are set up for the dry so it's probably going to be an awesome race tomorrow.

Alonso regarding Lewis' talent

Here Fernando compares Lewis Hamilton and Seb Vettel. Pretty intereting perspective:

Wtf happened?
Massa, grosjean and senna (or maldonado?) had to change their nose already.
Hamilton is out for the race. Oh no, he said so but took off from the pits again

I love it when it's not nando retiring.

Can a doubled car lap one still in the race? Hamilton, one lap behind, just overtook vettel... helping Alonso rofl.

FIA mapping clarification will mean Red Bull changes
Motor racing's governing body, the FIA, is expected to issue a further directive on engine mapping before the forthcoming Hungarian GP this weekend. It is understood that Red Bull Racing will not be able to run the same map that FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer considered to be outside the regulations in Germany.

What is it that they do that's against the rules? Is it the exhaust thing for more downforce? I thought they straightened that out last season. I also heard the announcers mention something about running on 4 cylinders in the corners for better fuel consumption.

Basically, the rules require the engine to make max torque. Red Bull had the engines mapped to make less than that at partial throttle. The other teams argued that that is effectively a traction control. Less torque to make the tires spin.

In essence they were using engine management to reduce wheel spin out of corners, giving them one of the advantages we have wondered about over time.

How long before we see drivers placing their hand in front of the air scoop, go-kart style?

All I can say is wow. Where did he pull that out of.
It seems Ferrari drivers, after being with the team for a couple of years, lack motivation. Alonso & Schumacher are the exception.

Here's why he's motivated,

Ferrari lets 2013 Massa contract 'option' expire
Ferrari has allowed a contract 'option' on Felipe Massa's services for the 2013 season to expire, according to Italy's Autosprint magazine.

Amid the Brazilian's early struggles in 2012, it appeared a certainty that the Italian team was on the market for a new teammate for Fernando Alonso.

Practice is not terribly meaningful. It's more likely Alonso wasn't really trying than Massa was blazing fast.

I'm watching Qualifying at the moment. We're still in Q2.

Alonso 'calmer' than 'aggressive' Schumacher - Hamashima
When asked to compare Fernando Alonso with Michael Schumacher, Hirohide Hamashima insisted the great pair of drivers are "so very similar".

The Japanese, previously Bridgestone's technical chief and now working with Ferrari on "tyre issues", is uniquely placed, having worked closely with both Schumacher and, now, Spaniard Alonso.

Both Mercedes are out of Q2 and Rosberg looked a bit pissed as he got out of his car while Scumi is relaxed starting unfortunately in 17th.

Massa beat Alonso so far. Senna is through to Q3 and Webber is out.

Hamilton is blazing fast so far, .5 secs quicker than Vettel.

Strong from Massa. Unreal for Hamilton, finally achieving another pole position .4 ahead of Grosjean.

Funny how motivated you get if your about to loose your job, a 15-20 million paycheck and be relegated to a 2nd tier team.

Couldn't agree more. Ferrari won't extend his contract. There are too many better drivers with no name out there that could do more for less money.
