Eddie Cheever's son to get Ferrari Formula 1 test
Ferrari will hand Formula 1 test debuts to Italian Formula 3 champion Riccardo Agostini and runner-up Eddie Cheever at Vallelunga on 9 November.

The pair, locked in contention for the title until the final race of the season, will be joined by European Formula 3 champion Daniel Juncadella, as first revealed by AUTOSPORT last month.

Ma Qinghua to race for HRT in 2013
Ma Qinghua looks set to join Pedro de la Rosa at HRT in 2013.

China Daily, citing the information of Tencent's sports channel, reported that the Spanish team "announced at a press conference in Shanghai on Tuesday afternoon" that the 24-year-old will debut next season.

Ma has driven HRT's 2012 car in free practice sessions at Monza, Singapore and Abu Dhabi this year.

If HRT confirms the news internationally, Ma is most likely to replace the team's Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan.

I think HRT is not necessarily looking at the quality of driver, rather where they can get a driver that will pull in the most sponsorship dollars.

The Ma news is reportedly false (check gpupdate!)

Do you want me to go to Vallelunga during the tests?

HRT denies Ma is confirmed as 2013 race driver - GPUpdate.net

That is one of the sites I scan in the morning. I must of skipped over it.
Vallelunga should be fun. You've run a track day there haven't you? Doesn't it make you sick when you compare your times against those of a real race car?

Yeah, especially against a F1 car.
The m3 was a bit slower than my track rx8, the m5 was consistently slower. I lap that circuit in less than 2 minutes, a f1 car does around 1:10 i reckon.
Same goes for Spa. Around 3 minutes for me, 1.45 for a F1 car!
It's frustrating but I'm sure I couldn't handle that kind of experience and if I could they'd have to shoot me to get me out of the car.

Vallelunga is a nice technical car, some turns are not that easy to understand and you risk rear ending people that brake where they should be keeping their foot down instead.

A few interesting bits in the news this morning

Formula 1 drivers warned over using bad language in interviews
Governing body the FIA issued the demand after both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen swore, live on air, while on the podium after last Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

A letter to teams says it is "very much our collective responsibility to make sure drivers are aware such language has no place during media events".

New flexi saga questions 'rubber Red Bull'
The seemingly never-ending saga about bendy formula one cars is back in the media spotlight, and as ever championship leader Red Bull is right in the middle.

Multiple videos depicting the front nose of the world champions' 2012 RB8 car have emerged in the wake of last weekend's Abu Dhabi grand prix, showing the extreme tip of the front nose section to be apparently made of some sort of 'rubbery' material.

How could the rubbery nose prove to be an advantage? Is it made to deform into some sort of aero device at speed?
Meh, Newey should win a nobel prize anyway. He's a genius.

Drivers warned about bad language
These guys know fully well that they should not use that language in a televised interview. Seb gets silly around Kimi and they feed off each other. I'm sure they will face a penalty or fine in the future if it happens again.

Paul.

Headlight Bright/Dimmer Switch
Yup, I'm that old. The change was made to the steering column sometime in the mid-70's.

We are getting off topic, but I had a 72 Plymouth Duster (Twister) with a three speed column shifter. A 62 Plymouth Valiant with one too. I learned how to speed-shift that Duster.

Kinda, but not totally. It was a anemic 318 with a bench seat and the column shifter that made it look like an auto. The orange-red color, graphics and the non-functional hood scoops made it look bad *** though. It also had terminal understeer. I folded the front tire under the car twice.

Sebastian Vettel still an immature F1 driver - Jacques Villeneuve
Sebastian Vettel still needs to mature as a Formula 1 driver according to former world champion Jacques Villeneuve, who believes the German "reacts like a child".

The Canadian, who won the Formula 1 title in 1997 with Williams, believes Vettel's Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso is a stronger driver when it comes to dealing with adverse situations.

Villeneuve, however, reckons Vettel is nearly invincible when he can lead a race from the front.

"I have no doubts: Fernando Alonso is the best, that's why I root for him," Villeneuve told Autosprint magazine.

"Seb is super quick, but there is a difference with Fernando that emerges in case of an unfavourable situation.

"Alonso remains calm, cool, and rational, while Vettel most times gets upset, angry, screams and flicks the middle finger. He reacts like a child.

"These behaviours indicate two different states of maturity but, let's be clear, Sebastian is an ace too; however, he struggles more in critical situations.

"He looks almost unbeatable when he leads, but if he needs to catch up he becomes vulnerable."

Ecclestone wants many more US races on F1 schedule
Bernie Ecclestone has hinted he wants many more American races on his F1 calendar.
"America is about as big as Europe. So we should have the same number of races (in each)," said Ecclestone.

Actually Bernie, The U.S. is bigger than Europe. However, I don't see more than two happening for the U.S. If Mexico can get it's act together, maybe a permanent one there.

Drivers interview today from Alonso's perspective.

Alonso and Massa ready for battle:

Crest of turn one, should be VERY interesting lap 1.

Looking up to turn one, Senna commented that it has as much elevation change as Eau Rouge.

Looking down the hill, compliments of Steve Machette:

Mark is ready!

McLaren running Verizon Livery instead of Vodophone. Wonder how much that cost.
