LOL!!! we can only hope!!! I still wish they would demote him to Torro Rosso for this race....I was a COMPLETE SUCKER for that rumor that RB was going to do that

Vettel and Button goes out in Q3 and therefore, starts the race on the medium tires. I was wondering if someone would do that due to the abrasive surface.

That's a smart move, use the harder tyres with higher fuel loads and enjoy the softs at the end of the race...
If I were a team i'd go out immediately in q3 on softs and then do another lap on the harder compound

I don't think they wanted to put anymore wear on the softs. The teams were only running one hot lap on them in Q2

I think Webber's done the right thing and got rid of the crummy soft tyres early.

However he's just stuffed it into Vergne and Vettel's passed him. I really don't like Vettel at all any more.

Why didn't Alonso have the same issue?

Not PC at all. It probably has more to do with young girl not aspiring to be race car drivers. The comments below are interesting.

Women lack the fitness level to compete against men more than mental aptitude.

Massa spent more time behind other drivers than Alonso. This probably is what increased his tyre degradation... staying behind another car makes yours understeer....

Yes it is! F1 is on pay TV here so I only see the odd race. Longtime Lotus fan though so I'm enjoying them being back.

Thanks for that. Wizwig needs a PC and I've, for better or worse, gone fully Apple, the other one I've found completely bewildering but I will keep trying as I'd love to be able to watch again, without putting money in Sky's pocket preferably.

I'm pretty good at getting info on all sorts of sports as I do a Sports Chat on a local radio station twice a week but those sites would make some of it much easier.

I'm a bit gutted about wiziwig as it looked good too. Cheers.

I love these icon thingies!!! Lol

Amazing race. Alonso did some amazing stuff. Perez showed why he has a top seat. Lewis showed he is fighter with knock out punches yet. Grosjean and Di Resta did fantastic as well. Of course, then there's finger boy.

Alonso really drove like a master.
All the battles for the first 10 positions were great!

It was unfortunate that Alonso and Massa had their mechanical failures. It would have been nice to see where they would have ended up.

'Dirty' driver Sergio Perez has to calm down - Jenson Button | Bahrain Grand Prix | Formula 1 news, live F1 | ESPN F1
Jenson Button says Sergio Perez has to calm down after the McLaren team-mates twice made contact while fighting for position at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Button and Perez found themselves scrapping for points during the race, with turn four providing drama on two occasions - once when Perez nerfed his team-mate on the exit of the corner and once when they banged wheels ahead of the braking zone. Button said he had never experienced that level of aggression from a team-mate and that most drivers grow out of that kind of behaviour in karting.

It was an ok race I think. I loved watching the various battles but because of those battles coupled with Alonso's bad luck, Vettel was never threatened. He could save his tires while the others couldn't having to either attack or defend. So finger boy had to race for a few laps and then just cruise on home.....

Rosberg needs to calm down a little lol. Same crap he pulled last year. But I love that Hamilton placed better even though he started 8 places back. Won't be long till he grabs a victory I think.

Perez rules and Button is a whiney bitch. And let's not forget that Button pushed him off track first. But Button thinks now that Hamilton is gone that he's nr1 there.... Wrong

Pirelli need to build better tires. Shame on the FIA to order these junk tires. Vettel was out of reach because nobody could afford to push after their battles.

Better tires would really change the game. I'm not sure why they like tire management as part of the equation; YUCK!

I may be off base, but I think the FIA thinks these shitty tires are an instrument of cost control. No matter how much money a team throws at the car they will never be able to overcome the restrictions placed on them by the tire...and I would "think" tweaking and trying to find gains in the chasis would be cheaper than building the most powerfull engine or trickes electronics or slick aero...just my thoughts....

A few years ago when Bridgestone and Michelin were making tires in F1 the tires got to be so good they could almost do a race distance on one set. They changed them because they came in for fuel anyway. With the fueling ban teams wouldn't have to stop anymore so they introduced these junk tires for spectator enjoyment they claimed. I personally think they've gone too far with it. You see chunks of rubber flying off the tires all the time. It's ridiculous. These cars are driving 80-90% of what they're capable of.

They need to get back to 2 stops a race, 2 compounds to choose from, either hard or soft you race and qualify on. Decided after practice 3. And refueling.

Formula 1 is an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. On one end you have the FIA constantly trying to slow the cars down with new regulations (if they didn't the cars would go too fast for the current safety of the tracks) and rules, think smaller rear wings, grooved tires a few years back, illegal double and blown diffusers, no more curtains under the car, less cylinders and lower rpms in engines and so on.

On the other side you have the engineers constantly finding loopholes in the rules to speed the cars back up like mercedes's double drs and this years suspension leveling. It's a constant battle. And that's what they're doing now. The engineers are making the aero in such a way that the cars are very "light" on their tires. The tires are the weakest point on the car this year so the engineers are trying desperately to improve how the car rides on them. That's what all the aero and chassis upgrades are for.
