Stewart slates 'disorganised' stewarding | Planet F1 | Formula One News
more at link above.
Sir Jackie Stewart has hit out at Formula One, saying there needs to be more consistency as highlighted by the "disorganised function" at the title decider.
Days after Sebastian Vettel was crowned the 2012 World Champion, questions were raised about whether or not he had overtaken another car under yellow flags in Brazil.
The Red Bull racer's move was eventually deemed legal but only after days of headlines that cast a shadow over the sport.
"Was the judgement of yellow and green flags right or wrong in Brazil and why would that have to come up on a Wednesday or Thursday?" Stewart told City A.M.
"That is a huge statement of a disorganised function that it should come up then.

Save the race car: Monopoly looks to cut out a game token - Autoweek
Judging from all the press reports, Is Perez going to be the next prima donna of F1?
Mercedes-Benz says the 2014 engine regulations are "about putting the motor back into motor sport".
The current 2.4-litre V8 engines will be replaced by 1.6-litre V6 turbo power units, with the term also encompassing the KERS, new ERS (Energy Recovery System), battery and electronics. Mercedes is attempting to make a unit that delivers 750bhp - the same as the current engines - but uses a maximum of 100kg of fuel compared to the current level of 150kg.

John Surtees says there needs to be an overhaul in how young drivers make their way into F1 to ensure that the most talented succeed.
As belts are tightened around the world, more and more teams are turning to drivers who have personal sponsorship deals to fund their careers.
Surtees, though, believes a system needs to be put into place to ensure that talent finds a way to the pinnacle of motorsport.
"What we need is a structure whereby you have success rewarded by the advancement of career," the 1964 F1 World Champion said while on the Autosport Stage.
"Where else other than in motorsport can you win one series and then be rewarded by a team at the next level telling you 'that will be £550,000 for a season please'? It's terrifying."

Monopoly might be the greatest board game of all time, and has the unique distinction of being one of the only games that allows you to have fun while systematically causing to you hate the friends and loved ones you are playing with.
However, the folks over at Hasbro have decided that it might be time to inject some newness into the old game.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the iconic game will be losing one of its original game tokens: the iron, Scottie dog, wheelbarrow, shoe, top hat, thimble, battleship or the ever-popular race car.

Fernando still believes that Lewis is the top driver in the field and that he will be dangerous with Mercedes this year as well.

Well other than himself of course. And I'd have to agree. Hamilton is fantastic. A diva but a great driver. Mercedes is pumping more money in the team coupled with the new people and structure at the plant I wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton win a couple. Out of all the drivers on the field Hamilton and Alonso are the ones who can push the most out of a car.

Mexico edging closer to F1 return | Planet F1 | Formula One | News, Standings, Results, Features, Video
I guess COTA isn't close enough.
Mexico hope to return to the Formula One calendar in 2014 following an absence of more than two decades.
The North American country has hosted 16 grands prix, the last of which was in 1992 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, but plans are afoot to win their place back next year.
According to Mexico's representative at F1's governing FIA, Jose Abed, Mexico City are busy upgrading their track.

F1 dream over, Valencia street circuit crumbles | News | Motorsport.com
After reportedly seeing secret documents, local media this week revealed for the first time that the government pays a more than $30 million race fee to the sport, which increases by 5 per cent every year until the end of the contract in 2015.
Valencia's F1 foray is apparently over, with a Spanish newspaper reporting that the street circuit is now falling into disrepair.

I am pretty sure Melbourne will not renew contract for F1...Sydney may try, we in Adelaide don't want it back after 11 years, we now have the Tour Down Under (pro cycling) happening now right here...it is low cost, free world-wide TV/publicity, free for all to attend and returns more money than F1 ever did each year...Plus Clipsal 500 V8 Supercars replaced our F1.
In Victoria (Melbourne) there has been a conservative State Government in power for about 3 years and inherited a lot of debt from the previous government.
I believe F1 will leave Australia.

Yeah, I call it the same Al..
Queensland just elected (about 12 months ago) a conservative Government, who discovered massive debt...so they are cost cutting, like 20,000 public servants (State Government workers) were sacked to try and pull back the $20 billion debt for this state plus other spending cuts.
I really can not see anyone picking up F1 here.

Robert Kubica is not ruling out a move to Germany’s premier DTM series for 2013.
The Pole tested Mercedes’ touring car for the German category this week and, according to Auto Motor und Sport, was “immediately almost at the same speed as Mercedes top-dog Gary Paffett”.

pitpass - Hmmm...
Will Hamilton have the patience to deal with the development of the Mercedes?
Ecclestone calls off Nurburgring negotiations > F1 News > Grandprix.com
Possibly no German GP. This would leave a date open in July for someone else to jump in. France?

Second Caterham seat goes to Giedo van de Garde. Their 2012 test driver. I am glad there's a countryman on the grid again but with HRT gone he'll be driving in the last 4 spots and personally I don't think he's that good either. The real Dutch talent is Robin Frijns who is Sauber's test driver this year. He's better than vettel was at the time. Frijns won two series back to back, the first to do so. So lets hope he gets a shot next year or this year if a driver has to sit out.

The flat belly pan looks like last year's redbull: low up front, high back where the diffuser sits.
The front winglets that move from the nose to the rear of the car are probably used to direct more air under the car... the main wing has the same higher center for this reason...

Found this cool video on Youtube. It's a condensed version of the work that goes into building the car.
