Vote for me during the next FIA elections.
Rules for F1:
Set tyre width f\r, people can mix compounds. No mandatory compound change during the season.
Free engine type, limited to 3.5l and 20k rpm. Free number of engines during the race\season.
Max weight: 620kg
Max size\width: tbd
Free Aero, ground effects etc.
Open cockpit
Refuelling, **** yeah. No Kers, DRS.
That would be fun. It's basically an open sandbox. Newey would probably win the championship during the first race...

To add to BSE's manifesto:
Cars fit to a box size (max height, width and length) but otherwise bodywork is free (allows for afrementiond mad aero).
Engines limited to 3.5 litres and 20,000 rpm n/a or 1.75 litres and 13,000 rpm F/I.
Gearboxes must be lever controlled and clutches must be foot operated and mechanically controlled. (that'll sort them out!)
No traction control or torque management at all (lifetime ban for transgression).

Well that was a foregone and dull conclusion to the F1 Championship, I do believe that Smuggy McArseburger and Fingery McDouchephallus had an unfair advantage this season and that he's not as good as he thinks he is.

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso plays mind games 'like Muhammad Ali' - Autoweek Racing F1 news - Autoweek
No it's not Alonso, it's the F1 fans.

Justin Bieber and McDouchephallus in the same place, I fear if they touch it may cause a critical mass of douchebaggery and most of Texas will be showered with douche-y fallout causing an outbreak of mass ***tery and tw**tishness in the Lone Star State.

I learned something interesting last Sunday. There was a very bad storm hitting Chicago at the time of the race. The local NBC station decided to have the weathermen on for 5 hours telling us it's a bad doors and stay inside instead of showing the race. By chance, I flipped over to Univision right as the race was starting. I than used the NBC Live app to listen to commentary. What I found was, Univision showed the race in it's entirety commercial free! Versus, NBC, which was running commercials every 3 - 5 minutes and at the end of the race ran about 10 minutes straight. The interesting thing, was the footage/graphics/POV were the same for both the spanish and NBC channel. That leads me to think either F1 provides the footage to the networks or Univision is owned by NBC, but run separately.

F1 used to contract the host country to provide the common feed. That lead to showing, almost exculsively, drivers and teams from that country. Also, the production values suffered for more than half the countries. It's probably in the last ten years that F1 took over the video production of the races.
I'll have to try the Univision video. I too missed the live feed and had to watch the re-broadcast on NBC Sports. Missed the Bears game too.

I also missed the race because of the idiotic weather discussion on local NBC, and did not catch the re-air on NBCSN either.
A few years ago someone on here gave step by step directions to watch the race via BBC website; but a search on their site (and Sky Sports, too) yields nada. Without doing bittorrent, does anyone have a link to the replay?

I was on the very edge of the storm as I live by the IL/WI line. I recognize the severe weather warnings and their value, but it interrupted my viewing! :p
So today Univision has the race live starting at 1000 where NBC doesn't air till 1400 and no doubt commercial laden. I wish I knew more Spanish.
BTW, AL are you from Northern IL?

NBC had the race live. NBC Sports has it delayed. I did switch between NBC and Univision when commercials came on. They were on a different commercial schedule and you didn't miss any of the full screen action.
You should be able to get a Milwaukee station up there instead of Chicago.

I like all the changes, except those in the drivetrain. Get rid of the electric assist and allow any naturally aspirated 3L engine configuration with a limited fuel supply. If the cars are too fast, cut back on the fuel allowed. Give the cars narrower tires. This will make the driver a bigger element in the race.
