Plenty of sporting series, including in motorsports, has something to try to keep championship fights alive right up to the end. Doubling the last race's points doesn't seem to be a good way of doing it.
I'd say that you are watching "F1 Political Survivor" more-so than "F1's Got Talent" though

Yeah...
They could start with doing what the public wants to keep it entertained.
Like not penalizing every single overtake or blunt maneuvre.
Environmentalists can suck what's under my underwear. I'd take a 20k rpm, 3.0 v12 over a 15k rpm turbo v6 with ERS any day.

vettel's secret is/was that newey was able to reproduce the blown diffuser on his car in a legal way for this season. unless the rules are changed concerning that, 2014 will be another vettel/rbr year sadly. why webber wasn't closer I don't know. uneven material and/or other factors.

I don't think that explains it. The predictive traction control theory seems to fit better.
The rules for 2014 have all exhaust exiting at the center tail of the car and there is no wing permitted in the vicinity, so blown difusers won't really be possible anyway.

He had to have traction control. He launches / starts and grip when exiting a turn was above everyone else.

Di Montezemolo calls F1 teams for summit - GPUpdate.net
Gotta love Ferrari, at least they're trying to keep the sport alive.
If i were the teams i'd leave Bernie and the FIA alone and build my own series, Formula 0. Less rules, more racing, **** budget caps. The tracks would be more than happy to resign their contracts with Bernie and simply split the revenue 30\70 with the teams.
The teams should own the series, not some old fart and a corrupted federation.

Todt: Double points system not a major change - GPUpdate.net
"not a major change" + "nobody likes it" = fairly easy to go back... why don't they cancel this rule?
Moreover, everybody's worried about F1's financial situation, yet they only talk about budget caps, not about asking less than 20 million $ to each and every track to host a race.
********.
