I unfortunately missed most of the coverage and when I saw they retired the 70, I didn't bother to watch the last televised portion.
It's interesting that they have another motor that they are considering using. any details at all?
I just never imagined that little diesel could be pushed hard enough to compete with the other cars and I think this weekend proved it.
It was quite efficient though (the upside to lower performance I guess) as they were going an extra 20 minutes between fuel stops.
wonder if they'll get any competition adjustments

you guys hear about the 'controversy' with the Ferrari being penalized on the last lap costing them the win?
Then a few hours later the decision was overturned.
can't imagine how crazy that must have been for the Ferrari and Audi teams

Yeah.
I can understand why the call was made in the first place, but I am glad that IMSA officials then recinded the penalty. I don't see much controversy about it, since it was simply hard racing on the last lap for the win, and the penalty was "avoidable contact" when a review of the video clearly shows that there was no contact. Both drivers were pushing hard, and the Audi driver knew exactly what position he was putting himself in.

12 Hours of Sebring is tomorrow, anyone going or watching? Looks like Fox Sports is broadcasting in the am then it's all live streaming after that.
Looking at the practice and qualifying times for the cars and things just keep getting worse for the Mazda teams.
I don't want to seem pessimistic but I just do NOT see them being able to compete this year, at all.
That motor / car just doesn't have enough speed.
Corvette took the poll in Prototype with a 1.51.9
The 07 SpeedSource car just did a 2.14.0 lap.
is this season all but over already for Mazda?
it's kind of looking that way unless somethign drastic happens. Hell, even with competition adjustments, I don't see them finding 10-15 seconds a lap out there. Sucks because I really wanted them to be successful but that motor barely kept them competitive in that 3 dog race they called the GTX class, no way they can run with the big boys in Prototype.

should we be worried that the #70 car isn't listed on the qualification results?
and tha tthe #07 sister car has only completed 2 laps?

interview with John Doonan
"still using a ton of the stock components...we're proud of that...come a few races, we're going to be in the fight."
kept mentioning how many stock components they're still using in that car. "great test bed but very difficult to make them compete at the top level of prototypes"
what he said, what I heard.
we need to keep ditching stock components if we're going to compete. Sounds like that'll happen throughout the season.
oh, and you guys see that poor viper on track right now?
anyone bring marshmallows?

ya, it's pretty much been down hill since they retired the RX-8.
last year in GTX, they did "win" the class but that's not hard when you have 2 of the 3 cars in the 'class' and the only other car you're competing against isn't even a full manufacturer sponsored team.
This year they took that motor and jumped into the deep end of prototype and are trying to compete with the big boys.
While I'm super excited for the Speedsource team to see them finally racing in the Prototype class, in qualifying they were running 10-15 seconds slower per lap than the poll setter.
that's going to be a brutal difference after 12 hours.

12 seconds is huge when tenths of second is considered significant.
Just saw #70 and they were talking about some of the issues they are dealing with. Sad it could not pass the Aston when getting on the straight
I think the yellow Corvette looks good. Love the front of the car but hate the rear.

I keep forgetting to watch this series. The new Fox Sports Network is not in my normal rotation of channels I flip through. Going to have to change that so I do not miss the races.

Watching this race and reading a FB post by my brother about getting ready for a track day at Laguna Seca is making me want to go for a drive! I need to get back on the track a few times this year.
